I don't really know what kind of cook I am. I make lots of Mexican food, of course. I mostly grill. I never fry anything, EVER! I did make a pork roast in my crock pot the other day but that ended up being carnitas. I know I don't cook no fancy food though. You can keep that stuff. I'm interested in cooking something I can actually eat.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

I'm like that too. Being a picky eater, there's lots of stuff I'm not interested in eating but there's lots of ways around that and I never have a problem finding something good to make. What I usually do is mom goes to church small group on Sunday nights and there's always a theme of what kind of food to bring. Last time was American food so I made her tomato cheese grits. Of course it sucks that I don't get to eat the food because I don't go to small group but at least it's fun to make it!

I find it's hard for me to make good stuff too during the week. By the time I get home from work it's almost 6. I just throw something on the grill because it's fast. Since I was off Monday and Tuesday I made steak and portabella fajitas and carnitas. Javi commented about how I was turning into a really good cook. I said, yeah when you have time to cook it's amazing what you can do. I'd love to cook good food more often, I just don't have time.

Paula Deen is awesome because she does stuff like decide her cake really needs some bacon grease at the last minute :D

I like to cook lots but only when I have other people to cook for :( Can't be roasting me a whole chicken or buying up special ingredients just now. I'm living the $2 on food a day style just now :P

Me too! Like I mentioned the only time I ever get to cook anything is on Sunday and it's at my mom's house with the ingredients she bought lol! I know if I had a place of my own and was able to set up the nice kitchen stuff I've been accumulating over the years that's currently all in boxes, plus a little more money I'd be doing more but for now it's broke and simple.

The ingredient of the week sounds great to me. We can then post the recipe and who likes to take pictures, can always post pictures also.

PS: it's not that I don't like your idea, Amber, but I usually take 1-2 days of the week to actually cook and I like to have something that I know hubby and I really enjoy instead of trying new things I'm not sure, you know what I mean? Not that I don't try new things, I do that from time to time, but they're not as often as me cooking something I rely on.
