I bought green asparagus for the first time. Could someone tell me how to cook it? I don't even know if I use the entire thing, or part of it.

Also, I was looking at my spices and I have this paprika that I never use. What is it good for?

break the ends off of the asparagus because they're pretty woody and not very appetizing. if it's really thin all you need to do is salt & pepper it and a little oil OR cooking spray and either roast in the oven or cook on the grill. also you can just blanch it. grilling is my favorite. I like it plain but you can also marinade it.

if the asparagus is thick you may need to peel the outside of it so it will be more tender :)

I did that today. Added pepper + chicken bouillon, wrapped in aluminium foil and roasted. It's real good. I'll start buying that more often.

here ya go...

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup shortening or margarine, softened

2/3 cup brown sugar

2/3 cup white sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 1/2 cups flour

1/8 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/3 cup nuts, optional

1 1/2 cups chocolate chips

2 cups oatmeal

Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. In a separate bowl mix together the rest of the ingredients and then add to other bowl. Mix well. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased or parchment paper lined baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes.

* I only made half of this recipe so a full recipe will make about 6 dozen cookies, depending on how big or small you make them...

Thanks! I'm gonna try that. I never make cookies, or anything baked for that matter hardly ever, but these look like the kind you could pop a few in a freezer bag and take a baggie out of the freezer as you want them.....which might be everyday till they are gone... LOL

why not buy a container of cookie dough and just bake them as you want them. then you won't be tempted as often because it would mean you'd have to bake them first :)
