sister francas there is a book called professional cooking by gisslen that teaches you just about everything you need to know. it's quite expensive maybe $50-70 but is a great tool!

forgot to add that I will be making homemade ravioli (I think) if not just homemade pasta next week. I know it's not an ingredient of the week but I'm making foccacia tonight with tomato, parm, caramelised onions, thyme to bring to my dad tomorrow. I will try to remember to take a photo.

Thanks for the info...I'll have to look into it. Basic skills form the foundation of every meal.

I still may take a one-time class at a place near me that does hands-on cooking classes. They have one that sounded interesting that taught the basics of Vietnamese food and part of the class was to go on a field trip to a Vietnamese neighborhood and demystify what's in the shops and the basic ingredients needed to cook Vietnamese. Sounded interesting. And it's only about 4 blocks from my house.

love everything you used to cook. I might try that some day.

It's one of my favorite meals, and so glad hubster goes out so I can make it for myself.

Sister Fracas it looks very tasty! I might try it soon too.

Thanks! :)

Ok here is my pasta dish finally. It's called pasta fagioli and it was sooo good. Plus, it was low fat.

I resized it already but I think it might still be huge. I'm sorry if it is.

I can but I'll have to find it. I'm at work now and the recipe is at home. If I can find it again on the net I'll post it. If not I'll post it as soon as I get home. It was very easy. I can almost remember the whole thing but not quite.

I found it!

Pasta Fagioli

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 cans (14 ½ ounces each) Italian-style stewed tomatoes, undrained

3 cups fat-free reduced-sodium chicken broth

1 can (15 ounce) cannellii or northern beans, undrained

¼ cup fresh Italian parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon dried basil leaves

¼ teaspoon black pepper

4 ounces small shell pasta, uncooked

1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat until hot.

2. Add onion and garlic to oil.

3. Sauté for 5 minutes or until onion is tender.

4. Stir in tomatoes with liquid, chicken broth, beans, parsley, basil and pepper.

5. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally.

6. Reduce heat to low and simmer, covered for 10 minutes.

7. Add pasta. Continue to simmer, covered for about 10 minutes or until pasta is tender.

Makes 8 servings. Per Serving: Calories 217, Total Fat 6 g, Cholesterol 0 mg, Sodium 661 mg, Carbohydrate 37 g, Protein 12 g.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!
