Yay, someone who has received an NOA! Welcome to the group, Crazy Brit - you have given the rest of us some hope:-) that there is a light at the end of this deep dark tunnel.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I have a question, what papers did you need to take for your infopass appointment, I made an appointment just incase for april 15, and I don't know what type of papers should I take with me

Well I had my Infopass appointment in Houston Today...

And I have the following to report:

1) I got the I551 stamp in my passport for the full year - no problem at all... I told the officer I needed it for employment reasons for proof of status, she then asked if I had a passport and stamped it for me immediately with no issues.

2) The officer also gave me a piece of paper with my "trackable" receipt number on - I just typed this in online and HURRAAAAAH it works! for now it looks like my case is indeed staying in Texas!

The only downside about the visit is that I had to wait right next to the deportation office and there was a very upset individual arguing very loudly there right infront of it... on the bright side that made the whole process go very quickly... I was in and out within 20 minutes...

Nothing encouraging... When the deportation guy was kicking up I made the comment that I do not envy them their Job...

The officer then responded that many people hate immigration as much if not more than the IRS.

I told her that I didn't exactly like immigration the entity - that I thought the system is a bit broken, but that I didnt hold anything against the employees who have to deal with it.

She agreed and commented that unless things speed up somehow it's likely that I'll be able to apply for citizenship before they get done with my application (I'm eligable Dec 30th to apply)

I don't think that's what you wanted to hear is it? lol

Still it leaves open the possibiity that they might speed things up... somehow lol - oh come on! we CAN dream people! lol

Its a complete joke!

Seriously!

When I did type in online the trackable number that I was given by the officer, the status showed that on 3/12 they mailed me ---something--- - but I do think that if that was true that I would have received it by now!

At least now I have my stamp to prove status (and the stamp has the same validity that the NOA-1 letter would anyway) and a trackable number saved in my online profile (for those loverly email updates)

I can delay worrying about their inefficiencies for a while - I plan to apply for citizenship before my stamp expires anyway...

In my case the office is literally 5 mins from where I work (20 mins from where I live) so it was well worth it.

It all depends on how far away your local office is - where would your local office be?

Well, my green card is still valid until mid May so I won't try and get the stamp until the end of April which I think should be long enough to prove to them that the NOA isn't coming and that I need the stamp - which I will - to renew my driver's license.

Yeah...

TBH - I've almost written off this I-751 process - now I'm just looking toward being able to apply for citizenship... on the road to eventually be completely clear of this whole immigration mess...

Well, it is over a month since I mailed my application so I called the Customer Service line this morning. I got right through to Larry who was very polite and actually helpful. He said right away that he needed to transfer me to an immigration official as he couldn't answer my question. So, I spoke to a lady who didn't give her name and again she was helpful. She confirmed that the cheque was cashed on the 10th and said that generally it is a month after the cheque has been cashed that is important, not a month after mailing and if I still did not have my NOA by the 10th to call back and she would put through an inquiry. I asked about my case file number and she gave me the one from the cheque first. I said that one doesn't give me any information and I can't register it on the online status site. She actually smiled (I could hear it in her voice) and said, 'no, you're right - that is the number that we can use, this is the number for your biometrics file' -and she gave me that number. It is definitely a SRC number so the file is staying in Texas.

So, I went and registered the new number on the online status site and it shows that my file was last touched March 12. It also states that a notice was mailed - but I don't believe that and expect I am going to have to phone back on April 10th. At least I have my file number and could print out the information. It is strangely reassuring to know that that file number already exists as well - I know it is not lost in the black hole, even though it is in the black hole of TSC.

Mine showed March 12th as the "touched" date - but this morning it now shows March 19th as the 'touched' date - which is very odd to me - especially since it only just (On the morning of April 2nd) updated to say this!

You think it's a belated April Fool's Joke from USCIS? lol

:goofy: Well, I guess that is a "little" more encouraging. Do you happen to still have the customer service number handy? I could try to look it up, but if you have it right there would you mind posting it? I will wait and call in a couple weeks, a month from when my check was cashed. Thanks for the update. :goofy:

Here is the number: 1-(800) 375 – 5283 You go through all of these options until the last option is number 2 - filed a case and haven't received an NOA. It gives you a recorded message that says it will take 15 weeks - I just punched the number 1 and it said it would transfer me to a person. It did.

Jamieswith- maybe it means that they are processing your NOA as of the 19th and it is only 2 weeks delayed in the mail instead of a month:-).
