Hey people i need a hand here,

I had my interview 2 years ago for the CR-1 in Canada, and since then i needed to wait for some security check.

Meanwhile i moved to Spain and checked recently with the embassy, so this is what i got:

-We need a new DS-230 (which i did submit), does this mean i will have a second interview?

-Then i was told that i should move my case to the country i am in (or have recidency in), Spain in this case, Will moving my case from Embassy to Embassy be a mess?

-Currently i have no long term residency in Canada, does this mean that I can't continue processing there and have to move my case to Spain now?

I need to take action and all help is welcome....thanks

You're in Spain now? I'd check out the Embassy site and find out their email or phone number and ask them if you have to attend another interview. Who did you hear from about the new DS-230? That's who I'd be checking with.

Hmm, the US embassy in Montreal asked me to resubmit the DS-230, and after doing so, the Montreal Embassy suggested if i want to move my case to Spain to contiue my processing?

At this point neither me or the Montreal Embassy has contacted Spain.

Hope this helps...

If you're not a resident of Canada now, I don't know how you could go through the Montreal Consulate anyway. I'd look at timelines for the Spain Embassy. It might even be faster! I don't think it will be a mess to send the file to another country. It might entail that Montreal sends your file back to NVC to send to Spain. Again, I'd suggest that you call the Embassy where you are, and ask if you can have your file transferred.

We had an issue in January where our G325 form had an old address on it and information hadn't been updated by the time the embassy got it. When they saw the old address, they sent the case file directly to the other country.

(Of course this ended up being a problem for us and caused a two-month delay.)

However, it does suggest that Canada could send your file directly to Spain without going back through NVC. It took our file only a day or two to get to the new embassy - I think they must only use couriers to transfer files.

I'd call Spain and ask them what you would be looking at there, but we weren't given a choice as to which embassy we wanted ours at; they told us it had to be in the country of his current address.
