TFC (The Filipino Channel)

This is addressed to Filipinos who are now living in the US. How popular is TFC among Filipinos living there? Does it help ease your homesickness? In what way? What's your favorite show and why? Would you recommend others to subscribe to TFC?

I agree! I recommend it too. When I am still in PI i usually watched ABS_CBN so my sweetheart subcribe to it and watching it too... now that i am here everytime we watched I translated words to him which he can't understand... coz he wants learn some Filipino words too.... And for me, it seems im still on my native land ..... PHILIPPINES! Mabuhay po tayo mga PILIPINO!

During the times when Rick was here he would watch Wowowee and Game Ka na Ba. He also loved to follow BOOMTARAT TARAT and PAPAYA dance.

i would love to get tfc but honestly i seldom watch the abs-cbn shows back then. at least i could name a few like tv patrol and sometimes wowowee but thats it. not into teleserye and prefer watching their studio 23 affiliate... but when i got here in the states, i miss our language and watching filipinos on tv lol (not much filipino in my area) i almost did subscribe tfc but $59 is not worth paying when all i wanted to see is tv patrol lol... but now we change our network (dish) and when i asked about tfc again to finally somehow subscribe it, i realized they dont offer tfc. so a bummer lol...

We live right in the smack middle of Dallas Texas therefore get great signal especially from those companies who provide the TFC and we got it. Its a gud channel specially since I like to watch the WOWOWEWE..but wish we could get other channels without paying lots more...

I live in the southern california, TFC is mostly found in the heavily concentrated filipino communities. Unfortunately, fil-ams..I mean filipinos that grew up here in the states aren't really into watching TFC, coz we cannot relate..I tried watching it but it was boring..all I saw was girls dancing & bouncing their behinds on stage..hehe. Most people that I've seen watching them are old folks(lolas & lolos...hehe) or new immigrants to the US, I guess..homesickness?..You see 'em hanging around watching in SEAFOOD stores or other small filipino shops..like video rental stores. I know coz we always see 'em, whenever I take or drop off my mom for groceries.

Check google, I believe they charge between $5-12 a month..depends on the location I guess...pretty expensive for just 1 channel..geez.

Has never been a fan of filipino channels even when I was still in PI so I don't really miss it much.As long as I have FOXN,Discovery,National Geographic channels and I can watch Greys Anatomy,CSI, Projectrunway and Spongebob Squarepants in other tv channels I'm already a happy camper.

To get updated with pinoy news I surf yahoo.

It cost us about 60 extra per month to be able to get it since we only had basic cable and needed the box and digital gateway to receive it. It does help when my fiancee is bored or wants to feel like she is connected to her culture back in phils. We dont watch it that much, but its nice to have for her.

We are lucky that the Wowowee show comes to Vegas .

when? lol... i think "hopefully" we'll be heading to vegas around april 16 or so and we're looking for good shows...

as for the tfc payment, i didnt subscribe it before coz i only want to watch one certain show and for direct tv, we're paying $70/month already plus if you add the $59 tfc then heck that's too much lol... so now we're in to dish, plus internet we're spending almost $200/month for both services so i do feel guilty if i wana add tfc lol... my husband doesnt mind but i thought since im not that into it aside from just wanted to know the phil updates, guess ill just watch youtube lol...
