My Fiance is turning in his application in Kingston Jamaica. I believe the next step is an interview date. Does anyone know how long it takes to get an interview date and what fees there will be on that day? I'm thinking maybe finger printing, fee for actual visa and his kids visas or is the application fee the only fee? Also, when do you find out about the medical, at the interview?

I believe you just have to pay the US131 for the non-refundable application fee, the delivery fee if the visa is approved... and the medical examination prior to your fiance's interview... Not sure if there are any other things... and perhaps some miscellaneous stuff that your fiance has to pay for....

This is correct. The delivery fee is around $45.

He will need a police record which is around $100 and he needs to get it in Kingston.

He will need a non-impediment of marriage form which is around $100 and he needs to get from a local RDG office.

If you fiance needs any shots at all, I suggest he has those done at the local clinic before the medical exam to save some money. The actual medical exam is around $100 too.

What exactly do you mean about "turning in his application in Kingston"? The DS-230, Part I? is that what you mean? If so, make sure he called/e-mailed and got an appointment to do this. They will not let him in the embassy otherwise.

If you are talking the I-129F, it needs to be mailed to the US.

Once all the paperwork is in and to Kingston, the appointment will be a month or two after.

He has done the medical and gotten his police record, but what is a non-impediment of marriage? This is something needed at the interview, right?

Hi Gooden;

How was he able to schedule the medical and get it done? Has he received his interview appointment? Please update your timeline with pertinent info so you can be better assisted with the next steps of your journey. The steps are:--

Petitioner files I-129F

Notice of receipt received

Notice of approval received

Case goes through NVC and assigned NVC case number and forwarded to Kingston

DS-230 application submitted with supporting documents

DS-230 reviewed

Application reviewed and interview appointment letter sent to petitioner and beneficiary

Medical appointment scheduled by beneficiary (needs interview letter to schedule)

Interview attended

At what stage of the process are you right now? Let us know so that we can be better able to direct your next steps.

And by the way the Non impediment form is obtainable from the Registrar General's Office island-wide. The certificate will state that the beneficiary is free to marry.

Good luck with your journey.

Claire

The form states he isn't married now and is free to marry you. Yes, he needs it at interview. It can take up to 2 weeks to receive, so do it early.
