My fiancee has gone to try and get her passport for the last 2 days. She has NBI, BC on security paper, SSS, postal, student license the school form they ask for on the application, but they told her today she needed old ID's, she doesn't have any she tried to tell them that but they said thats what she needs. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next, I told her when she gets home to call DFA and ask for a supervisor to speak to them and see if she can get a name of someone who can help. Anyone have this problem? Appreciate any replies.

As far as I know for first time applicants 2 valid IDs are required. I do not know about the requirement of old IDs and for what purpose.

Hi..Yea ur fiancee need old ID's.When i went to DFA last Feb.05,the processor there asked for my old ID's so luckily i brought it with me together with my SSS ID,POSTAL ID,STUDENT DRIVER'S LICENSE,NBI and my authenticated BC.Did she worked before? If she did and she still have her old employee ID or other ID's that expired already..she can use it to get a passport.Well,i brought my daughter with me that time and go to a lady there who looks like a mother already coz i know she will not give me a hard time on my ID's as she can see that i'm carrying my daughter and i pretend that im very tired and plus i came from Olongapo and travel to Manila so she verified my application form and then she told me to go to auditorium to pay 500pesos and they gaved me my receipt with my scheduled of my passport releasing after 2weeks i applied. They are very strict now coz the passport is new now. They changed the color and the background of the passport pic.

Ahhhh...the Philippines again....So much document and ID fraud, even current Official ID's won't satisfy! You still have to prove that today your name is Santa Claus and 5 years ago, your name was Santa Claus and 15 years ago your name was also Santa Claus!

Old School ID from High School or College. Or other employment ID, voter Registration ID, Drivers License - something issued a number of years ago should do the trick...

Good luck!

WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF PEOPLE USING OTHER'S NAME ON THEIR ID'S, DFA/GOVERNMENT WOULD WANT AN OLD ID JUST TO MAKE SURE. I HAVE KNOWN SOME PEOPLE WHO HAD USED OTHER'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND GOT A PASSPORT AND WHEN THE REAL PERSON APPLIES FOR A PASSPORT, SHE WAS DENIED BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE ALREADY HAVE A PASSPORT USING HER DETAILS. NOW SHE CAN'T GO OUT OF THE COUNTRY UNLESS THE "FAKE" ONE COMES BACK AND SHE CAN FILE CHARGES AGAINST HER.

WHEN I FIRST APPLIED, I ONLY SHOWED THEM MY BC, PRC ID AND NBI CLEARANCE. AND WHEN I APPLIED TO CHANGE MY NAME SO I CAN USE MY MARRIED NAME, THEY ONLY NEED THE MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE.

YOU MENTIONED YOU HAVE SCHOOL FORMS? SCHOOL ID (ELEMENTARY, HS OR COLLEGE ID's) WILL USUALLY SUFFICE. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR PASSPORT APPLICATION.

I had the same problem, or maybe worst since I never had any valid IDs, no SSS, no postal ID, as in nada! I used a travel agency in getting a passport thinking it would not be a problem that I didn't have valid IDs. And then there came the day that I had to do personal appearance... They asked for any identification and couldn't provide one. They made me come back and told me to bring any documents that will show the signature that I am presently using. I dug up for some old papers like a police clerance dated back in '98, a community residence certificate dated back in '03 and my high school year book showing my chubby face and information on it. I also got a new NBI clearance for that. I told them that that's all I got and they just verified the consistency of my signature. I have been using that signature for at least 10 years and they really checked it carefully if it was consistent with all the signatures on those old documents I submitted. They seemed satisfied with it and then told me that the passport will be released in 1 week. Phew!!!

I have a question. Has anyone got your passport in PI recently? Rumor has it you can no longer use an agency to get a passport quickly, since they are now using the new electronic passports? How long did it take to get your passport?

I think my fiancee may need to renew her passport which expires Nov 08 and I hear that it is less than 6 months before it expires you can't get the visa.

She told me last time she got her passport in 3 days using an agency, but a friend told her now it take a minimum of 1 month because they are behind because of these new electronic passports. Plus she thinks they won't put any priority on it because it is like 8 months before it expires.

If it takes a month or longer that is going to really make it tight for her to get her medical ahead. Just trying to get the right info here. Thanks

DFA suggests that if you only have 1 year left in your passport, RENEW it asap.. do not use an agency. they will ask for Php1500 to process your passport. you can do it yourself for 500 or 750 pesos

tip: to avoid appointment dates (which takes a month to be set), just go to DFA's covered court really EARLY in the morning (3am or earlier).. everyday they have a cutoff. they will cater 500 applicants per day.. so if in case u fell in line but reached the cut-off, they will not send you home. They will give you an appointment date when to come back for processing of your new passport or renewal of passport. as for me, I went to DFA around 4am and was able to be in the lucky 500 applicants and my passport renewal was processed half day. I paid 750pesos for overtime fee, meaning I can claim my passport after 7working days.

I renewed my passport last Dec '07 thru an agency and got it in January this year . Mine took a month because of the holidays instead of the 3 weeks. The agency people told me that they were only allowed 4 clients per agency per day to process since the start of the e-passport.
