and yes, even if their is another wife, the man MUST do all these types of things for them EQUALLY.

I think you should be specific. I am a muslim woman, and some of these things are just overboard. I dont ASK to leave the house, but I do leave a note or let him know I am leaving. (thats just common courtesy). If I want to be ordered around, I should go live with my parents again.

A husband is your partener, not your father

Some of these rules are geared towards a stay at home woman-in a muslim country. In the US woman do it all, woaman in the US do what is so called mens jobs and womans jobs. We work full time jobs while still maitaining a family, home and our hair. It is absolutely rediculous to not expect a man to help.

There are things that I know my husband will not do, like dishes and fold laundry. (he hates them), But that doesnt stop him from pushing the vacume, and cooking a couple times a week. If you ask me, the sight of my husband in the kitchen is sexier than any cologne he can put on!!

My fiance and I are both Muslim. Honestly, I find some of the items on the list a little too far fetched for me (both this list and the men's list). My guess is that the list was written for Muslims in Muslim countries because I see all of these applying like in Saudi Arabia. In the US, not so much.

And while I do not agree with everything, I do think that there is a lesson to be learned. If you disagree, be thankful that your SO does not expect this from you. If you are Muslim and agree with some and not with others, be thankful that your SO is not stuck in some version of the 1400s. If you agree with all, then more power to you.

If this is what Muslim men expect from a wife then I am sure glad I am not one of them....

i hope i'm speaking for the majority of us, that this is not what all Muslim men "expect" from their wives? i can't say for the original poster of this topic, but for most of us... our marriages are a partnership, helping each other out with what we do best along the way. And of course we do nice things for one another and make one another laugh and comfort one another... i think that's what all happy couples try to do. Why wouldn't you be good to your partner?

I really don't see why the list is so far fetched for non-Muslims? I'm not Muslim myself but am married to a Muslim. I would do 90% of that list whether I was married to him, a Jew, a Christian, a Hindu, etc! I find them to be out of love and respect and just things you would WANT to do because you LOVE them. The asking for permission thing should be worded differently IMO. I just tell my husband I'm going. But why not tell them? You like to walk out without saying where you're going?? I find that soooo totally disrespectful (my husband has done it and he hears it from me!!!)
