My interview is scheduled in the morning at 8:00 and I will need to take my baby with me. I want to avoid a long wait in the morning cold outside the consulate. I wonder if it will be ok if I choose to arrive a hour or so after 8:00? Also, did anyone see people allowed to bring basic baby staff into the consulate?

they open the doors at 730am..maybe you could be there shortly after that..I would hope that if they see you with a baby they would let you right in..

even though interviews are pretty much first come first serve, no matter what time your interview is scheduled,I dont know if I would want to get there "late".. *my opinion*

maybe you could send them an email first and ask about arriving later...

From all the reviews I've read on VJ, I don't think you want to get there too late. It gets busy quite quickly and you may end up spending many extra hours.

I would try to be pretty much on time or a little before.

Bundle that baby up and hopefully they will let you right in!!!

Best of luck!!!

If you do not check in in time for your interview they will not see you.

If you have an appointment letter they usually let you in right away. Unless they've changed it, the ones waiting outside in the cold are the ones without appointments.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

Best of luck!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

So prg321, how did the interview go?

trailmix,

It went smoothly. Because we had a little one with us, we deliberately went a little bit after 8am and later we were told that we were the last immigration interview for that morning. Every officer we met was friendly, just waiting and waiting on the 19th floor (it's good that the waiting area is spacious and the little one had plenty of room to run around and even met some frields ^_^ ). We were done at around 11am. We asked whether we could pickup the visa the next day but were told that we couldn't.

Thanks for all the helpful information.
