Well.. today May the 1st, stuff happened, not here, but on some cities. I wrote in my blog why I thought the protests were dumb, and didn't solve anything, so I can translate here my view on this issue.

I can't say much, cuz im not a citizen, I will leave this to the senate, and politicians, that well, hopefully will come with a satisfactory resolution for both ends, illegals and americans. I don't know the whole immigration bill, but of what I've heard. I wouldn't think it'd be fair to deport the parents of the now citizens that were once 'anchor babies'.. or I don't think it's fair for them to get denied health services if we're talking about an emergency.. although if the illegal is well, an illegal, the constitution doesn't help them a lot, and.. I respect that, because It's not my country, and USA has the sovereign right to make the laws they are think convenient..

now, the other side. I don't think it's fair for the Mexican govt and Media to start messing up the whole thing. As people say hre, this is an anti-illegal bill, not an anti-mexican bill. Yes, 50% or more of these illegals are Mexicans, but that doesn't mean it's anti-mexican. Now, my biggest thing, MExico is as sovereign as USA. WHen Mexico does something that USA doesn't like, people in Mexico start jumping around of how USA dares to interfere with our laws, well.. This is the same thing but inverted.. how Mexico dares to interfere with USA sovereignity.. Benito Juarez said "Among individuals as among nations, the respect to other people's rights is peace”.. so.. We can't go messing around telling US what to do or not with illegals..

A thing that bothers me the most.. is.. Mexico complains of how the border patrol 'mistreats' the mexican illegals.. when in the south border Mexican soldiers and law enforcers, rape, rob and murder men, women and kids alike.. from Honduras or Guatemala.. and that is the bigges hipocresy I see in this issue.. Why doesn't Mexicans protest against that?

Its true that illegals are deep in several economic processes of US economy, farms, production, etc. Taking out of the chain, I dont know what would happen. US has the right to take them out? no doubt. Although I can't see a clear solution for this, because, it'd take a lot of money and work to depor 12 million people, and the same would take to legalize them... So I can't say what will happen or not..

Now.. saying this.. doesn't allow anybody to bash all the population.. while indeed, the Mexican government is fukcin up.. doesn't mean that All Mexicans want to 'invade' and make USA a spanish speaking country. I think sometimes objectivity is lost, and can hurt others..

I think there is a solution to this problem that is much easier and practical to implement than re-enforcing the border or trying to deport masses of aliens.

I know that a very large portion of illegal immigrants work for cash. There is the solution. Get rid of cash. There is no part of my life that needs cash. Even when I visit Vietnam I am able to use credit cards for the entire trip- if for nothing else than to get cash advances for foreign currency.

I'm not saying this is as simple for everyone to give up cash as it would be be for me. A lot of street vendors who take cash now would have to tool their carts with card swipe machines, and that would take some time and money, but I think it would take less time and money than trying to build a wall or put a million men on the border with rifles.

When our paychecks or payments are deposited into accounts, the account would first pass through a fast automated social security checkpoint that would match the recipient with his legal status. It would be impossible for employers to pay illegal workers. I know the technology for this exists today to make these checks secure and accurate.

Think about every aspect of illegal immigration this would solve. All you have to do is be willing to give up cash.

i'm certain there are lots of solutions, some good, some bad. the one we will wind up with is the one the politicians feel will give them the best chance at re-election.

All you have to do is be willing to give up cash.

In other words, create a paper trail for all monetary transactions.

Fine, but if I had to get around it, how would I? I'd barter. No joke. If you get rid of cash, you'd see the re-emergence of some 21st century form of an underground barter economy.

Well it's a hell of a lot harder to send a 50 inch plasma to another country than to send cash! Employers in this case would have to be willing to do grocery shopping for their employees, in which case if they are caught they could never claim they didn't no they were illegal.

No doubt it would be inconvenient compared to cash. That's why cash is so popular and barter has died out.

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)
