Timeline

This thread comes closer than anything else I can find to answering a question I have: What happens if a non-citizen files for his K3 wife while the wife is not pregnant, but then the wife gets pregnant and has a baby before she is approved? I'm asking because this happened to my wife's sister.

So, to break it down, the timeline is this:

* Man comes to america and spends 10+ years as permanent resident

* Gets married to girl in VN

* Files K3

* Wife gets pregnant

* Wife has baby

* Man becomes US citizen

* Wife is approved for K3

What then? I can't find any documentation about this. The closest I can find is short blurbs referring to derivative status, and also assumptions that the father is a US Citizen. Links to US.gov documentation would be great.
