Hey,

Hubby and I are looking into moving to Atl from Daytona beach, FL.

Was just looking for nice cities (Nice neighborhoods) to live in Atl. We want to buy a house, but not in ghetto neighborhoods. I just need a list of nice cities. Will appreciate any suggestions.

While I grew up in Macon (city south of Atlanta), I have been to a few of the Atl 'burbs over the years.... my best friend lives in a suburb called Dacula which is in the northeast corner of Atlanta. Small suburb, but she has a nice house.

I hear that Marietta and Alpharetta are nice...Buckhead is swanky in the downtown area.

First I lived in Newnan, which is about 30 minutes south of the airport...that is a very good location.

Next, I lived in Marietta, which is up north Atlanta, and that was even better.

Roswell is very nice as well if you are looking north of the city. If you are looking south of Atlanta check Stockbridge, McDonough or Fayetteville - those are nice communities a reasonable distance from downtown Atlanta with some good neighbourhoods and a lot of new housing development but still cheaper to buy than in the city or North of the City. There are a number of VJers in the Atlanta region so let us know where you decide to go.

is it cheaper that California?

what is nice areas to look for aprt. for rent?

which is cheaper Roswell, Alpharetta or cumming?

Well, the northeast part of the City is the more expensive part but there are pockets of affordable/expensive/inexpensive properties in all of those areas. A lot depends on where you work because the city is very spread out. If you find a place that is $100 a month cheaper but you end up spending $100 a month on gas to get to where you work it isn't that much cheaper in the long run.

Here is a link to a map showing the prices of home sales in the Atlanta area. It is interactive, so you can link on an area and find out where it is and see what the average home costs are in the area. I know this isn't the same as renting but it will still give you the idea of the pricier areas in which to live. You can also search by zip code. http://www.ajc.com/homefinder/content/home...mesalesmap.html The areas are generally divided by county - there are 13 or 14 different counties that make up Atlanta and area. (You don't want to look at Clayton County - btw - lots of trouble there with their school board undergoing de-certification unless you don't have kids and are looking for cheaper properties).

Cumming is cheaper than Alpharetta and Roswell.

We live in Alpharetta, and pay $750 for a 2 bed apartment. Theyve recently updated all the apartments and

now new ones go for about $850.

Theres a pretty subdivision called Devonshire, right opposite us, which has 2 bed houses for $142,00, and a single

family 3 bed detached for $185,000.

The pool there is lovely and the local schools are great.

Google is your friend for property!

Buckhead is great if you want more of city life, but Id go with Alpharetta. Now if you want really lovely, check out

Historic Norcross, they have an English pub called The Iron Horse Tavern and Taste of Britain, a British shop.

Dunwoody is nice but a bit pricier.
