I have been looking this over but I am confused/concerned on how to fill this out for moving.

My finace will be considered a nonresident. His stuff will be staying in the US much like him. :)

How exactly should this be filled out? I don't want him to get hit with duty on personal/household items.

The value is what is throwing us off.

Thanks!

When my wife entered the USA on her K-1, we declared nothing, the items in our suit cases were personal. They do not charge a duty on personal items.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

I don't think it will matter unless he's bringing gifts. If he's bringing personal items then it won't matter.

But then again, I am the USC and have never faced this so I could be totally wrong :)

*nods* That is kinda what I was thinking. I wasn't sure for a nonresident. Basically I told the lad to not fill out the back part, when they ask him if he has anything to declare just tell the CBP officer that everything is personal and used. If they ask why he hadn't filled out the back of the form just plead ignorance of "not knowing what to write." Sadly it is completely truth cause we really don't know ;P

Those forms are never clear.
