The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

No, I don't believe it. I know that there are at least *some* Irish people in LA (Irish people, not the makey-uppey Irish-American people who pronounce their own names wrong) and they have survived. So there must be a way to go out and get drunk and have some fun without having to go to a silly poser club or something.

There just has to be. :crying:

There are people who pronounce their own names wrong? lol

Oh wait! That's probably so true! My name's Gillian and people ask me how to pronounce it all the time..... because they know people who named their kids that but they pronounce it with a hard 'g' instead of a soft 'g'. It's just weird.

That happens to me all the time too. Everyone wants to know if it's pronounced with a hard or soft 'g' yet I've never met a Gillian who pronounces with a hard 'g'. I guess they must be out there though.

I'm a soft 'g' by the way.

NO no no, I'm talking about people who think they're name is Ma-HONE-ey as opposed to MAH-huney (Mahoney) or Gall-ag-er as opposed to Gall-a-her (Gallagher) they're the best examples I can think of. Basically it's all Ellis Island's fault. Everyone got re-named there.

And I will have to stop telling people called Colleen that their name just means 'Girl' in Irish. It's not really a name.

My co-workers still mispronounce my (Italian) first name. I hate it. Thank god no one has to say my last name - that is always butchered.

Poiteen -- it IS my middle name!

I was going to take a picture of the flagpole on our town green for you -- right underneath the American flag flies the Irish one. #######? I can *just* about handle that in March (actually, I can't at all, just trying to go along with the custom of the country) but today's date is April 16th. April 16th, people!

Sorry, sorry, I am totally OT. And OTT while I'm at it. :P

But your names not even Irish?? I did not mean you.

But I realise that the longer I continue going on about this the more I will hurt people. So I'm stopping now. When I get the the US, I'm going to have to deal with people and their own way of spelling/pronouncing their names, it's their perogative. (L)
