Drug Use

I was under the impression that drug testing is not part of the K1 medical unless the doctor suspects drug abuse. I know my husband was not tested for drug use.

Most illegal drugs, even weed, will not show up in standard drug tests after abstaining for a couple of weeks. Although THC metabolites can remain in the system for several weeks, in standard drug testing (e.g., the preemployment type), the concentration required for a test to show positive is pretty high.

We've done a kind of unofficial poll in the Yardie thread regarding ganga. You need to refrain for at least a month or two before the interview.

And NEVER EVER admit to drug usage of any kind. In Jamaica, even the admission of smoking years ago means a denial and automatic 3 year ban, with the possibility they will never approve.

a month or 2 I think is too short if this person is a constant user...especially in Jamaica  but everyone gets rid of drugs, waste etc,differently..don't exercise too much..i hear it pushes the chemicals into your fats cells and it will be detected faster or longer..something like that

Please help. During K1 medical of course they will require drug test... I'm sure most people have used drugs at some point of their life. How long will the drug stay in your body? Or does it depend what kind of drug it was used? What if it's just mariajuana or weed? What if you took it 4 months ago or 6 months ago will it show on the medical results at the embassy?

Keep in mind that if you're asked if you've ever smoked pot its the same as if you have an actual conviction of possession on your police record. Sooooo - if a person does have a conviction, and also admits to smoking it - then 2 strikes you're out! Trust me on this - My guy had a single possession of cannibas resin on his record and I've googled the hell out of the process. The immigration officer asked if he inhaled or did a Bill Clinton. We did not need a waiver due to it being 3.2 grams found at a party he had at his house. The US is very firm on our laws of drug use when it comes to immigration however he was not tested for drugs at his medical. Stop freakin' out about it but if you're toking I advise you to give yourself at least 4 weeks to clear your body and conscience.

Racerly,

Well if I was so inclined, I'd take offense at your original post and even your followup saying that "some people" do drugs (I believe that is what you said). Thankfully such things don't bother me too much anymore, I've mellowed out since turning 35. Don't know what was so magical about that year, but I digress. Anyway, the drug thing and associated testing. I've never touched the stuff personally and can't imagine doing so. Peer pressure? Sheesh, yeah right, I told them to go **** themselves. As another poster has said, I therefore don't worry about drug tests, have at it. I do agree that it's kind of a hack of an industry as yet another poster asserted, but heck what I do know? I don't even know what the term "Lucy" means and don't wanna know (so noone tell me, I am happy in my ignorance). I've never drank alcohol either. These facts are one of the larger reasons I could not find an American woman (they're amazingly intolerant of a non-drinker, almost always saying something to the effect of: "...you don't drink? What's wrong with you?" -groan- and "You're not a man if you don't drink." -BIG groan-). My Olga and I have this in common (no drinking, smoking, etc.) and it's one of the reasons we're compatible (and how). But now I am way off in the weeds, so I'll bring this around full circle. I will ask politely that you keep your commentary restricted to yourself, it's all anyone can really speak about with any authority anyway. Everything else is pretty much conjecture. Pretty much.

Take care,

Jerry

I am going to suggest to refrain from advising people how to skirt the laws when it comes to this sort of thing. The TOS does not allow for such.
