Well, there goes your hardship excuse - you don't need to work anyway, so just stay home and take care of yourself.

I have to work so I can have health insurance benefits. I can't get them any other way, and no one is so independently wealthy that they can responsibly forgo health insurance -- and NO, the catastrophic coverage would not work. You will have to trust that I've examined that.

I understand how you feel as I have been in a similar situation for quite some time. Just a little help with a few things would make a huge improvement in my life. The solution I came up with isnt great, but it does seem to get me through each day.

Prioritize what is important. As far as cleaning, do the necessary things. Obviously its important to take out the trash and clean up anything that is unsanitary. Laundry needs to be cleaned, etc .. but dont stress if everything doesnt get put away. There are only so many hours in a day and kids take a lot of time and energy. Try and just once in awhile have a day where you get everything done and then dont stress in between. The things that need moved. Hire someone to help. It's the perfect time of year for that since you can get your tax return (that is something you can expedite with RAL if needed).

Try to do things that make you feel good. And the best thing you can do as a parent is make sure the kids feel loved. When you feel most stressed, try sitting with your kids and reading to them. It will make them feel good and you feel good at the same time. Plus it will calm everyone down.

Just my 2 cents as someone who has been going through the same thing. Sometimes these ideas work for me .. and when they dont its because I forgot to use them. ;)

Thank you for understanding.... it's gruelling being a single parent, up at 5 am to get kids off to school and not home from work until 6 pm, come up with dinner, help with homework, play games, read books, get bathed.... into bed without enough time to sleep. Get up next morning and repeat.

I'm lucky to have shared custody so I do get breaks. I spend them recovering enough to take on the next cycle of having the kids. They won't be young forever, and I want to treasure them now, especially since I don't have them 100% of the time. There are some things I really can't offload onto anyone but my husband (eg bill paying).

For those of you who wonder why I think my case might be worthy of expedition: the length of time that one's blood pressure is high puts enormous wear and tear on the body and it should be minimised. I don't think that asking for priority is too much. And I think NO ONE should have to wait as long as it currently takes. However, I really DO have to get my health better before I take on immigration reform. ;)

I'm sorry for what you are going through but a lot of people have health issues, and I bet some are WAY worse than yours. You are no more special than ANYONE else that has to go through this process. I have fibromyalgia, sometimes I can't even move when I get out of bed, and I still do, I'm a single parent, have been since almost the start, and I have NO ONE to leave my kid with as his father lives on the other side of the state and never sees him. I'd never even think that I in some way with medical problems were special enough to have my case expedited. I doubt they'd find any reason to expedite your case because of health issues. I'm sure people going through this have cancer things such as that and would not get their case expedited. I'm sorry if I sound harsh but it seems kind of ridiculous to think that your case should get pushed ahead of other people's just because you have high blood pressure and have a tough time being a single parent. Join the club, its not easy being a single parent, and many people do it while dying of cancer. Just accept you'd have to wait like everyone else does or do DCF.

Well back to your original question. Can your case be expedited with the current situation? No it can't. It doesn't fall under any of the categories. although many of us have sympathy for you........ we are all going through much of the same things, telling everyone on this forum all your problems is only going to create a support group at best. I seriously doubt the service center or anyone else in the immigration process would have any of that sympathy. They hear it everyday. Get right on that application process, think positive and you will get through it just like everyone else. Best of luck to you.

Snowbunny: I was injured at a sports event last month with 2 herniated discs, - both my legs and arms periodically turned off, - I couldn't walk, or do anything for myself. In and out of emergency rooms and hospital care all those weeks. All the surgeons that saw me had recommended a very complicated surgery as the only recourse, - the sooner, the better for my chances of surviving without complications.

I had sent all the documentation, - doctors' statements recounting the complexity of the impending operation, copies of the MRI scan readings, letters, - all to no avail whatsoever. Last week I received a letter saying they have denied my request, as to them it does not exactly warrant a LIFE OR DEATH matter. Imagine that!!!! I could literally be an invalid for life after this operation, I obviously can't work now to support myself, or do much to fend for myself for that matter before the operation, and I we are still forced to wait!! My husband is going crazy over there because he can't do anything to help me, and I am going even crazier, because in my case, every day is worth years.

This system needs some serious overhaul, I don't understand why, considering this great immigrant nation, no one really lobbies much for its improvement.
