Hi Everyone -

So we had our interview. Needless to say, the interviewers asked some really obnoxious questions but we answered them all very honestly. However, we were still put on Admin Review. They said they will mail a letter home to Munesh and then we just have to wait. This part is the bad part because we don't have a time line to work with anymore. I'm hoping we get through by August. That will be exactly one year since we filed. Now it's all in God's and the American Embassy's hands - I wonder who has more clout??? hehe

As for the god question... I think the US embassy might like to *think* they have more power... but in the grand scheme of things, who knows?!

As you can see from my timeline, we were also interviewed on the 17th but have to go back June 2nd to (hopefully) get the visa.

Would you mind if I ask what those "obnoxious questions" were? It might help all of us who are waiting for interview schedule and those who will be going for an interview soon.

I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and I hope that everything will be ironed out soon. God be your constant guide.

I don't understand why the embassy in Guyana do that to people. My friend went through the same thing. She was never given a reason for the Admin Review. In all it took one year to complete everything. At the interview they gave him hell asking him if he knew that his fiance (USC) is also a Jamaican citizen. It was just all unecessary questions 26 in all. He said he wanted to cry.

I agree - I don't know why they ask those personal questions. I don't see how it's necessary for them to know about our personal lives. But we answered them honestly. We couldn't do anymore than we did.

What upsets me is that there are people who have been arranged and they fly right through with no problems. I'm pretty sure they can't answer those personal questions. #######??

Anyway - some of the questions were very person. Here is what they asked me...

1. Was I a virgin at the time we consummated our relationship.

2. What side of the bed does Munesh sleep on.

3. Does he sleep on his right side, left side, his back....

4. Do we use condoms.

5. Are my parents OK with us getting together because technically his Mom was paid by our family to take care of my grandmother - I told them that we aren't people like that. We don't look down on anyone.

6. Where do I sleep when I'm there.

7. Isn't it wrong or awkward that we sleep together in his parents house

I think that if they make us get all that "stuff" together to show and prove that I can support him when he gets here, WHY do they need to know about our personal life? The things that I had to get up for this interview had nothing to do with our private lives - that's why I had said months ago in another post that I should have taken a video out of us "doing it" and take that in for proof of our relationship.

I don't know what we can do or how much we have to do to show them that we really love each other and we want to be together.

And on top of that we were interviewed by 4 different people. MEN all of them. You think they get off on asking those types of questions? Who knows...

By the end of my interview and I was the last one in there, I was tired of going around the bush with them and I basically told them - look, I plan on marrying this man one day. Yes we have sex and we will continue to have sex and my attitude suggested to them pretty much if this doesn't work, we will find another way.

I know we have to wait now. If we wait one year, I would consider that a good thing. We can only pray.

I want to say thank you again for all your prayers and well wishes. At least you guys understand what we're going through. This time coming home was way harder than last time. And I anticipate next time will be even worse....but we will do this until we can get our dreams to come true. It really sucks that we have all the plans and we get started on anything until he gets here. I think that is what hurts the most. It's like we finally decided to get our lives settled and started and we can't because we have to depend on the US Embassy - Government.

Suz, I am so sorry you had to endure those kinds of questions. You are right, if you meet the requirements to sponsor him, why the personal questions? I don't get it. It does absolutely nothing to establish the validity of your relationship.

Thanks Zee - I'm glad you know that you're going back in June though! We have nothing to work with right now. The good thing is though is that I can still talk with him...If I didn't have that I would completely lose my mind!

This was a K-1 interview though. So, technically, they're not married. In some countries or culture, it is not okay to sleep with someone and have sexual relations before marriage, so why should they be asking those questions? If they couldn't answer about what side of the bed they sleep, or if they used condoms (as if that's anyone's business but the couples), does that mean they don't have a bona fide relationship? I think not.

I really think the kind of improper questions you had to endure were out of line.

You are engaged, not married...What if you had not co-habitated before? What if your religious background prevented the two of you of consumating the relationship before marriage?

How would you know the answers to such questions then?

The more I read about Embassy staff and their behaviour the more I am considering setting up a website called CONSULATE EXPERIENCES for people to write in their stories.

Then send it to the State Department and Senate.

You know, this waiting totally sux! I am so miserable i don't know what else to do. Talking about it doesn't help anymore and well really nothing helps anymore. I'm a fuckin' US citizen - WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE TO DO - WHAT ELSE DO WE HAVE TO DO TO PROVE TO THE GOD DAMN FREAKIN US GOVERNMENT THAT WE ARE REAL - we have a real relationship and this is taking it's toll on us! I'm not even pissed off anymore - I'm just numb - all cried out because there is nothing we can do now!

A visa was approved in Havana right before I left for Guyana - what the hell???? Good for those who got approved but what about us? Visa's are getting approved in Iran and Iraq and we can't get approved - what the fuckin' hell???????

No offense to you guys that approved - but I would imagine they would examine those relationships as much as they examine us from Guyana!

I'm so frustrated and it's only been two weeks - I emailed the embassy today and they said they will send a letter to Mun when or if they need something or his visa was approved - NO FUCKIN DATE!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? We can't even plan anything now - just hanging like puppets on a string!!!!!!!!!

I swear I would move back home in a minute if that what it took for us to be together - I'm just over all this. It's been 7 months of hell and now waiting with NO FUCKIN' DATE!!!!!!!
