Getting EAD at POE: What's the point?

vancouver airport has given it out too..

Just curious as to how Edmonton or Vancouver can give out a US work authorization?

P is flying into Vancouver and we're driving through the Peace Arch.

There are US customs and immigration people at Vancouver?!

Confused.....

Confused.....

There are US Immigration Inspection points at these locations. Instead of being processed after landing, you get processed before you take off. This happens in a few other places too, like Ireland.

Oh I see. So if you are flying in and then driving across the border you wouldn't be processed?

You'd be processed at the US Immigration Border Crossing point when you drove. Landing into Vancouver won't get you processed as you've landed in Canada. The only way you'd be able to get processed in Vancouver is if you were then to catch an onward flight from the airport that was destined for somewhere in the United States.

If Vancouver is your final destination as far as your flights go, then you won't be processed there.

I've flown through Vancouver airport a million times over the years. Have entered US customs going to the USA and Canada customs coming back from the US there.

I'd ask around at the airport about getting the stamp. See if you can talk to any of the custom agents. Worth a shot.

I do know that the Peace Arch border crossing does not give out the stamp. (Went through it myself). I don't know if the truck crossing right next door offers it or not.

is it worth asking for the stamp? I mean if you ask and they have it will it be given?

May 2nd, 2008 -- Visa Interview = Approved. (91days)

May 27th, 2008 -- Damian moves to America!

July 23rd - 30th, 2008 -- Damian's Mum Comes to the US for our wedding.

July 25th, 2008 -- Wedding Day!

March 16th, 2009 -- AOS Sent

May 8th, 2009 -- EAD & AP Approved (51days)

July 14th, 2009 -- AOS Approved!! (118days)

July 21st, 2009 -- Green Card Received (125days)

No RFEs the whole process :) All done myself.

December 4th - 30th, 2009 -- Visited England

April 8th - 30th, 2010 -- Damian's Brother visits us here in PA.

January 19th, 2010 -- Damian got his PA license.

December 10th - 19th, 2010 -- Visited England

September 16th - 30th, 2011 -- Damian's Parents came to visit us here in PA.

June 1st, 2011 -- Mailed ROC to Vermont.

February 21st, 2012 -- 10 Year Green Card Received

April 14th, 2012 -- N-400 Sent to Dallas Lockbox

November 26th, 2012 – Damian Became a US Citizen!!!
