I've been seeing timelines with the entries "touched" on most of them. How can you tell your application has been touched. I have registered online on the USCIS website and as in my Naturalization application, the date never changed, from beginning of app to end. I completed my naturalization in February and now Ive applied for the I-130 (have a NOA1) and sent my I-129F on Friday. How can I keep track of it if the USCIS website does not update.

Thanks

Gracey.

Hi there,

Touched means when the "last update" date changes, means your petition has been "touched" by USCIS personnel..

Yes, exactly. Touch does not necessarily mean approval, it means someone has worked on your petition on that day.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Why should somebody work on that day ? If they have that much time, they should have taken the applications from the queue and processed faster than just touching the other applications which are far behind the queue.

I think the computer system randomly updates the updated date column in their database.

«Goes to drawer pulls out the form letter...»

My official "cut & paste" answer regarding "touching"...

"Touching" is meaningless and no big deal. Some petitions get 'touched" and others never do. It only indicates someone had your petition in their hands and scanned it into on the database. Other than proving your petition is not in the trash, it is nothing to get excited over. What truly counts are NOAs (yeah!) and RFEs (Boo!) :)

That was the answer I was afraid of. I think every USCIS center is different. Texas USCIS is not good at updating anything on the computer, yet, they worked my Citizenship within 7 months from start to finish. So a word of encouragement, just because the website does not show any updates is not to mean that they are not "touching". Lets all hope for the best, even when there is none.

Onto the I-130 and I-129F, I hope Vermont will work them just as fast.

No, the computer system does not randomly updates the updated date column in their database. I saw out petitions were touched for 2-3 days right before the approval.

Yes, that is what touching means. Someone at the USCIS has looked at your file, it does not necessarily mean any further updates or approval. But it is good to know that your file is looked at on that day.
