yes, send a copy of the whole thing.

You could do that but I suggest obtaining a certified copy from the court or State records department. Generally those are one page showing names and dates but not property settlements etc. They'll have an official seal and the judge's signature.

Well, sending photocopy of the divorce decree to USCIS with I-130 is fine. Instructions say clearly to send photocopy of documents (marriage certificate, divorce certificate). However, certified copy is needed at the end of the NVC process or during the interview at the Embassy/Consulate.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

I sent the first few and last few pages of mine and we got approved without an RFE. The important part is to include anything that has a seal and the judge's signature. The very last page were they officially sign the decree is probably the most important. You shouldn't have to include all the property and custody settlements.

However, when you get to your interview, I would bring complete certified copies. Embassy staff can be pretty particular when it comes to documents. Better to have too much than not enough.

Unless you are worried about cost of postage, send the whole thing, you do not want to delay anything just because.. What I've realised is USCIS agents handle things differently. My friends who have gone through the same system have all had different experiences. So to be on the safe side, send everything. Thats what I did.

Gracey.

This was the simplest and cheapest part of our process I've had so far.

I simply went to the county courthouse, court records department and requested certified copies. They were only about $15 each and so I got several copies certified. They were given state seal and certified by county clerk (signature). This has been good so far for marriage, I-130 and I-129F with no RFE to date.

It’s best to have multiple copies since they are often requested in different processes, you don’t always get them back and cost is negligible.

I would imagine that both divorces must be confirmed legal.

If ever in doubt, always take the safe side.

What do you mean your "friend had to do the same"? Did they receive an RFE for only sending certain pages of their divorce decree or did they simply choose to send the entire decree? As I mentioned, I only sent the first few and last few pages and had no problems getting approved. In fact, they were photocopies of the original. Many people have done this with no problem for the petitions. For the interview, it would be wise to take the whole thing, but I don't think it is necessary for the petitions.
