we have a few places that we go to that have awesome Chinese food..

of course we all know that it isn't authentic Chinese food  I don't think the Chinese over in China eat a loto of sweet and sour chicken and beef and broccoli  but I could be wrong :P

You're right. They have told me that they adapt their recipies to American tastes.

The best chinese food I've had outside China/Hong Kong is here in LA - or more specifically Alhambra/Arcadia

There are places with authentic Chinese food in Southern California, particularly in the San Gabriel Valley (including Alhambra/Arcadia). The major chain-type places are not always really authentic, but a lot of the mom and pop, hole-in-the-wall places are, and with the growing Chinese immigrant population in the San Gabriel Valley and other areas, good authentic Chinese food is becoming easier to find. Some of the best Chinese I've had outside Hong Kong, though, was actually in Richmond, B.C.

When we first came to this country we had to live with a family from China and they showed us that their food is not even close to the chinese food made in chinese restaurants. One day they had this soupy white rice that had to be slurped and was very bland. Then we had some green gelatinous duck eggs that were horrible. And then they served crab... my crab's legs and eyes were still moving aon my plate nd they just showed me to pull out its legs and to suck the meat out of them.

Yeah... Panda Express rocks!!!!

Diana

That soupy white rice was probably congee :)

CA beats NJ (and even NY I think) hands down for restaurant quality and variety. I've yet to find a decent Chinese in NJ.

  • 24/7 convenience
  • Much cheaper goods
  • Diversity. North to South, East to West. Almost like traveling to different countries
  • Wendy's
  • Taco Bell

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I WOULD really appreciate if I could still hitchhike across America from east to west on the back of some guy's truckbed with a bottle of whiskey (though I probably wouldn't drink it but it'd add to the mood) surviving off nothing but ice cream and apple pie the whole time

Oh Kerouac. I would have LOVED that so much.

Love America.

You know what I even like how we all turn into obnoxious tourists when we leave the country and it's like 'hahah we're all really fat and annoying but whatcha gonna do we have the weapons lols'

Summer 2001 - met my Scottish boy

December 18th, 2007 - proposal in Madrid's Botanical Gardens with a duck standing behind him going 'food?'

As in to eat or as in have a euphemistic baby...?

"They call me tater salad" - Ron White's pretty awesome American

And it's also awesome that whatshisface, the You Might Be a Redneck dude, is like, the biggest selling comedian um...ever or something in the US, because he's never actually been funny :D That's great.

Also great:

Andy Griffith show :)

Clean and free restrooms at public parks, beaches. Minimal vandalism at public venues. The ability to walk on the grass at a public park without a security guard hassling you. Clean beaches. Police officers that actually try to uphold the law. Free school for children.

Hee hee.. you must live in a very nice city ;) just kidding..

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

National Parks... While I have seen a lot of beauty in this world, I am truly thankful for Big Bend, the Tetons, Glacier, Everglades, Olympia, etc.

That my brother was also raised doing chores like laundry, mopping, dishes, cleaning bathrooms, etc. ;)

That drunk driving is not tolerated (even though it happens) in American mentality...

I've been living in China for 8 years. After about 2 years, I stopped eating Chinese food here. I only eat "Chinese" food in the US, unless it is hot pot or Beijing duck. Of course, I live in the north of China. I hear it is much better in the Cantonese regions. Here it is meat chopped so that there is broken bone, flaps of undercooked skin and a little meat in each bite floating in oil with oversalted, overcooked bits of broccoli or undercooked potato, etc.

We had a 4 star Chinese restaurant in my small town in Louisiana where I grew up. I miss it.
