I am just interested if the boycotts, protesting did anything to effect anyone's day.

Tucson had power surges around the city all day. Power would go out for 15-20 mintutes at a time.

We had a power outage at school around lunchtime and the cafeteria staff said they couldn't serve the kids lunch.

The children rioted!

I think the power surges were caused more from people running air conditioners today for the first time more than anything else....

I watched about 6000 march north on Main Street and then the contractor company we use released staff at 4:00. I wonder if they are going to charge us for those lost hours

There has been much repetition of the "legal" versus "illegal" in this thread, which I think is a spurious argument. Little has changed in this world, and specifically in the U.S. without purposefully disobedience of the laws we disagree with. In fact, Thurgood Marshall and Martin Luther King tactfully planned civil disobedience as part of the Civil Rights Movement just so that their cases would make their way to the Supreme Court so racist laws would be changed/struck down.

Before calling others out on the illegal, maybe we should look at ourselves. Do you follow every single traffic law? Do you pay your car registration on time (or at all)? Do you have car insurance? Do you remind the checker if she accidentally missed ringing up the toilet paper sitting on the bottom rack of your shopping cart? Do you ever pay someone cash for work they do for you (babysitting, computer work, car work, yard work, etc) and “forget” to list it on your income taxes? Take extra deductions on the taxes? Occassionally partake in a little recreational marijuana? Ever drive while intoxicated? Is EVERY piece of information in your the petition you submitted to USCIS 100% accurate?

No one is arguing we all have had and will continue to have difficulties with the legal process of immigration, but I don't think that somehow makes us better than those who pay insane amounts of money to be hauled in a tractor container for 5 days over the border, or run across borders, or underground trails, risking their lives. They are breaking the laws because they are trying to figure out how to work, live, earn money, and educate their children.

People have said it is about "right" versus "wrong". That's not everyone's opinion of immigration law as it stands.....your right is my wrong. Change doesn't happen unless people are willing to challenge the laws as they exist.

I actually understand where the OP is coming from, and with that said - I will quickly run and let the poo fly.

We have what's called a 'floor' schedule....each realtor® *shout out to ET-US!!!!!* gets like 2 or 3 a month. They're broken up into 2 hour shifts that we have to be at the front, ready to speak to any potential leads. It's a great way to drum up business. But if there are no leads, you still have to help out....file all the faxes, assist all customers who come into the office, transfer calls, give showing instructions to other realtors calling in, etc....

I also have to say that the mkt needs buyers...there are many sellers but not enough buyers.

Floor is highly sought after...and this month I have 3 shifts. On Sat, I was asked to cover someone's floor...today 1030-1230. I jumped at the chance. She didn't wanna switch, she just gave it away. Now that was due to a closing & I don't think had anything to do with the protests at all....BUT

the next two people didn't come in for their shifts.

So I took them both!!!! I was there 1030-430.

Met a man who owns half the town and is interested in buying a half-million dollar business....met like 5 different sets of home buyers, and two people wanting to buy land.

:yes::yes::yes::yes:

Now I dunno if it was protest-related...but I am soooo grateful that they didn't show...Oh! cos during my shift, it was shite.:lol:

ok, first things first... just because someone else does something illegal does not make it ok for another person to... 2 wrongs dont make a right...

now... um... YES, i obey traffic laws, pay my car registration on time, have car insurance, remind the cashier if she misses something or gives me too much change, i take only what i am allowed on taxes (NOT extra), i have NEVER smoked pot or done any illicit drugs (SHOCKING i know, but true nonetheless), i have NEVER driven while intoxicated nor let a friend do so, and absolutely EVERY piece of info on my petition (or any other papers i submitted to the govt for my husband) is 100% accurate... it would not be worth it to lie and get caught

its something called integrity... its a good thing to have

DAMN straight that i get upset when others think they dont have to follow the rules/laws of society to get the same rights that i have by being a law abiding citizen... its WRONG... its ILLEGAL... that word has meaning whether others want to think it or not

as far as the boycott... the only thing that i felt a difference here was disgust that all these employers talking about being shut down by their employees being off the job werent immediatly fined/shut down for breaking the law as well

"True love is falling in love with your best friend,

and only then, will you find the meaning of happiness."
