Hello,

My fiance and i want to get married when i come to Fushun, China in a few months. I would like to know if anyone knows what is needed for me to do before i go there and what the requirements are? Any information will be very helpful.

Thank you

It's good that you have plenty of time. I would start here:

http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/us-citizen/mrginfo.html

If you have divorce(s) to deal with, obtain certified copies of divorce decrees from your county clerk or state records department as applicable for your location. With plenty of time, you could just send them to your fiance so she can take them to the local Gong Zheng Chu to obtain Notarial Translations.

You could follow this process...

http://houston.china-consulate.org/eng/vp/fhjh/t53298.htm

...the shortcut for which is to do it through this service...

http://www.visarite.com/China_visa.htm

They don't list the service on the website that I can see but call them about obtaining an affidavit or single status and they'll email you the information.

The real shortcut is to skip the bolded above and stop by the US Embassy in Beijing with your fiance (make sure she brings her ID card.) and get a "Certificate of Marriageability" there. It substitutes for everything in the bold section.

You'll also want your fiance to check with the local marriage to foreigner office for clarification of their policy on accepting the Chinese and English Certificate of Mariageiability from the the US Embassy. Some accept it as is and others require a translation, even though it's already in both languages.

Of course, you'll need your passport and valid visa to visit China.

I used visa-rite because it was inconvenient and expensive to change my travel plans to stop by a Consulate. Any US Consulate in China can issue the Certificate of Marriageability but I think the Embassy in Beijing is closest to Fushun.
