Hi there :) I was confused by this, too (even though I'm a native Spanish speaker) so I called the embassy. Nothing to worry about, you don't need to send them anything back, even though that seems to be indicating that, I was told it is for people that haven't yet received their interview date. Strange, silly and confusing, but that's it.

Ok, this is still confusing guys, and I hope someone can clarify it.

On the link above that Shannon sent, it says this: "Form-179 (datos biograficos)although I was told at the embassy that its not necessary to send anything back, to just bring that form on the day of the interview.

***Nothing needs to be sent back to the Consulate prior to the interview for K-3 Visa applicants*** "

The last statement states that no need to send __anything__ back for K-3. But, what about for a K-1?

Do you, or do you not need to send anything back BEFORE the interview for a K-1 visa?

Thanks

Thanks Johana&Jared, for clarifying this, and congratulations for having an interview date. All of a sudden it seems that there'sn't enough time to get everything done even though we are not at the NVC yet. But, some body mentioned that there is not much time between the embassy receiving the case and the interview date.

Thanks again.

I totally agree! It's craziness in trying to get it done.

Don't forget about the weird birth certificate requirements. Something that I hadn't expected to deal with... From packet 3: "Partidas de Provincia deberán ser legalizadas por la RENIEC."

I received my hard copy NOA2 today. Tommorrow or Wednesday I will call NVC to see if they received our case yet.

Where is the RENIEC office in Lima? I was thinking this is probably something my SO could do while waiting for packet 3.

Also, do you know if she could go and obtain all the three certificados de antecedentes before she gets packet 3 and 4? As I understand it, she can do pretty much every thing in packet 3 before it gets to her, but she can't do the medical until she gets the letter from the embassy. Is any of this correct?

I would appreciate any information.

Thanks.

Cool on receiving your NOA2 hard copy!!!! Yay! You'll receive a letter rather quickly from the NVC stating that "the application has been (or will be) forwarded to the Embassy within a week." Mine was sent 8 days later. David rec'd packet 3/4 (they come together, packet 4 is just the cover letter, in English, with the interview date on it). He received that 9 days after the letter from the NVC that I received. And our interview is 19 days after that!!!! It goes so fast now! I can't imagine that they separate the applications from the CSC from those from the VSC. I would imagine that it'll speed along just as fast for you now.

I'm not sure where the RENIEC offices are... however, David was able to go somewhere in the city where he lives to get his birth certificate legalized. I'm sure your fiancée will know where it is. He didn't even question it. (This cost us around 25 soles.)

I'm unfortunately not sure if she can do all the police certificates before she receives packet 3. David went and got his certificado de antecedentes policiales before he got packet 3 (this will be from all the places that she has lived). The other 2 he went to Lima to get after he had already received his packet 3. You may want to ask Gringita... I think that she may know? I swear that I remember her saying something about waiting til they received the packet. (All three will cost you a little over 100 soles.)

Yes, absolutely she will need to wait on the medical until she receives packet 3. (We paid $95 for the examen, standard, and he had to get 8, yes 8! shots (vaccinations, not sure, but it was 8 total shots) for a total of $140, yes dollars. She'll have to wait for the results.)

Start working on your I-134 now if you haven't already. It'll take a little while to get your letter from your employer, your letter from the bank, and your tax transcripts. You will need your 2007 taxes done too.

Buena suerte!

There's another thread in the Peru portal now that describes Johana's experience with the medical exam, please read it! She paid WAY more for vaccinations...

Thanks a bunch for this information. I'm pretty sure my SO will need a bunch of shots too, but boy oh boy, 8 is alot!!! Hopefully she won't have to have all in the same day. She is way scared of shots, and used to hide in the school bathroom when the nurses came around to administer vaccinations.

She tells me that she was able to apply for one of the certificates today (the one that takes a long time to get). She will go again tommorrow to try and get the other two certs. I think this is safe to be doing now, because as I understand it, they are valid for either 6 months or 1 year.

Thanks

My fiance actually hand delivered his form to the embassy, but when I called a few days later to make sure it had been received in the appropriate hands, I was told it didn't matter- they didn't need it. I was fairly annoyed with this since I made a big deal about Jorge spending 4 hours in traffic to get it there, but that's what I was told. We brought a copy of it to the interview but I don't think we were asked for it.

Which form are you talking about? I can't tell from your text.
