Hi all,

My fianceé received a packet yesterday. I noticed on the timeline page that there's a place to fill in packet 3 sent. I'm so confused by this. Is the packet going to say "Packet 3" somewhere on it? What is he sending that the timeline page says "packet 3 sent?" Or is that the Embassy? Argh!

He said that it has the appointment date, I assume that it's the interview date (April 10 at 8:30).

So is he really going to receive 2 more packets? It appears on the timeline page that the interview date should only be on the 4th packet, so I'm a little lost.

He's going to Lima on Tuesday to get the rest of the police certificates (he's already got one, I was confused by this too earlier). Hopefully to get his medical too, but he might need to stay a couple of days.

TX for any help!

Packet 3 and 4 are just terms used to distinguish what we get from the embassy. They are not official titles used by the consulate.

Packet 3: Forms to fill out (DS 156, DS 156K, DS 230, instructions for medical, getting police reports, etc).

Packet 4: Interview appointment letter.

That should be it once he gets the interview appointment letter.

I think the only consulates that do the packet 3.5 are Pakistan and India.

If your fiance has his interview date already you should not be getting anything else from the embassy :)

The packet he recieves is packet #3 which will have all of the instructions on what he needs to do. Medical exam contact info, biographical forms that need to be sent in, etc.. Have him scan it and email it to you thats what Isa did just because I am so ####### about everything. The biggest this is scheduling the medical exam and get all of the police certificate. He needs to get them from every place he has lived in Peru and then he will need to go to Lima before the interview date to get the national background check done, this can only be done in Lima and took about a week for us to get. Isa went to Lima 2 weeks before the interview date to get everything done and stayed with relatives because we wer leaving 2 days after the interview date. Let us know if you need any more help and good luck with everything.

Do we really need to send the biographical forms paper in? The "instrucciones para los solicitantes de visa de novios" (yes, David scanned and emailed them to me too!) are a little unclear. The first page says, "Complete y envie inmediatamente a esta oficina el formulario adjunto 179, datos biográficos para efectos de visación. Esta oficina no podrá continuar procesando su caso hasta que se reciba este formulario," and then on the bottom of the 2nd page of the instructions, it says "No envie ningun documento a esta oficina, unicamente este formulario completo y firmado." What the heck???

We already have the interview date from the 1st page, so why does it even bother to say that still? I'm thinking that they just haven't updated the paper or something? We don't need to send this formulario (the instructions page) in, do we???

Not a very well written document...

Also, the Embassy Info (Embassy Site) information from the top of this webpage (right underneath the photos), says that we don't need to send in the "datos biográficos." Can someone help me out please?

Thank you, thank you!

I'm going through all the papers now. David's heading to Lima tmrw for the police certificate (and hopefully get the examen done too - I'm sure that he'll be stuck there a few days).

You're totally right! Form 157 is missing. I'll check the forms section and the travel.state.gov for it. Or do I need to go somewhere specific?

Yes I believe they want the biographical page sent in. Somewhere in the paper work it says that it needs to be sent in as soon as possible. I know it can be confusing, I wish they sent an english version by email to those of us in the states. Good luck with every thing.

Thanks again! I'm cool with the instructions and such being in Spanish, but they literally contradict themselves throughout the course of the instructions page! Not cool!

If you look at the Embassy info page ( http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...ru&cty=Lima ), it says that now they're saying don't even bother with that (sending back the bio form)... Uf! I'm hoping to hear back from Gringita. I think she was the one who indicated that it wasn't necessary. If not, guess I'll just call the Embassy. :)

Thanks for all your help! You rock!

Ok, this is still confusing guys, and I hope someone can clarify it.

On the link above that Shannon sent, it says this: "Form-179 (datos biograficos)although I was told at the embassy that its not necessary to send anything back, to just bring that form on the day of the interview.

***Nothing needs to be sent back to the Consulate prior to the interview for K-3 Visa applicants*** "

The last statement states that no need to send __anything__ back for K-3. But, what about for a K-1?

Do you, or do you not need to send anything back BEFORE the interview for a K-1 visa?

Thanks
