i just received my unconditional (10 year) GC yesterday and this is also my first GC since i was stuck in fbi name check for over a year. anyway, i want to get a divorce from my wife (US citizen), we've been married for 2 and a half years but haven't really lived together for almost 8 months now. i prefer our experiences but in the end it just did not work out but we stayed married for all the GC paperwork to go through. about a month ago she drove and took absolutely everything i had, furniture, car, tv, everything i have bought in the last year and the reason i stayed quiet was because of the pending AOS. Well now i just want to get a divorce asap and wanted to see if this would affect my immigration status at all? also, could she revoke my GC status by contacting USCIS? the married was definitely entered in good faith, we went to college together and lived together through most of it.

thank you

stayed because of AOS pending :bonk: yes, you would get introuble if she see your posting, (IP address) she can print and send to USCIS.
OP has the 10 year card, there is no conditions to remove, as well as nothing that USCIS will do, as far as they are concerned the marriage was bonafide. Once an LPR with out conditions, the status will not change due to a divorce after getting that status.

Hopefully your wife reads this and uses it as evidence against you getting the green card.

I'm praying she does.

You're a ray of sunshine, aren't you?

Dude already has his green card. Wife can't do sh!t.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

easy now, thats a bit stiff... the poor bloke has his heart broken and his TV nicked by a callous, heartless woman, and all you can say is that you hope he gets his greencard taken off him?

It sounds like you've judged him as a greencard fraudster, rather than giving him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe faking a broken relationship for 8 months is a bit tricky but everyone has the right to better themselves, in my eyes.

regarding the other thread, though, i'm finding it hard to muster much sympathy for a person who's been here 3 years and in that time has made no effort to aquaint themselves with the laws of immigration. life doesn't just get handed to you on a plate. life is, in fact, frequently bloody hard and you've got to be on your own side as much as possible.

More like SHE'S the fraudster in that relationship and no there is nothing she can do to take that greeny off him. jaenglishgirl - i hope your love doesn't do a runner on you and find VJers judging you, ya donut. I guess this is another fine example of You "answering someones question anyway you like" you are very judgmental and it is not wanted or very nice.... please stop doing this... you have no reason to be nasty to the member of VJ....

To the OP you have no reason to worry, you have unconditional status and divorce has no effect on your status.... good luck

Congrats on your 10 year GC. Dont worry no one can do anything now. Even if your wife complains you will still be fine. Thats what unconditional green card means. Also you will become a citizen in 5 years now instead of 3 which is much better than living with someone you dont like.
