Can you work before ssn?

I got my email verification of EAD and AP approval. I also have had a job offer that starts April 2nd. Am I allowed to work before obtaining my SSN#??

I think you need an SSN to work.

just go in and get! they will usually give you the number right on the spot.

Many employers will hire you if you show the EAD, and note from SSA that you have applied for SSN, and the employer will expect you to give them the SSN withing 30 days or so.

You are authorized to work and can do so if the employer will let you. I'd go to the SS office Monday morning and apply. It usually takes about a week from the time USCIS updates the SS administration its ok to issue the care/number.

Perhaps your employer will let you start now and update your paperwork in a week or so.

I haven't recieved the card yet.... hopefully it wont take too long....
