Well no. But when you're laying out a rationale based on an understanding of a fictional "black community" that you've cooked up from anecdotes and TV what do you expect people to say...?. By your own admission you don't associate with people from the "real" black community... So what authoritative basis do you have to make the claims you are making about blacks and the black community?

It is called observation and I am perfectly entitled to it. Especially in a nation where every man and his dog has one.

Um you've said that if it weren't for your wife you'd move back to Oz in a flash.

You've also said that you hate what the nation has become since the 60's.

Cutting the line mighty fine don't you think?

Yes I hate the direction liberals have taken this nation. And yes I would move back as the quality of life is better there. Why would I drive an Daewoo when I can drive an Bentley.

But

That does not mean I hate the nation.

Funny... having a MS in Economics sure you must be able to count the number of years the political conservatives have been in power in this country since the 60s.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

The question is, if you have money, how is the quality of life better? Either you have it or you don't. Either you can afford the Bentley, or you can't. The quality of life is not really measured in Bentleys, of course, but I am curious to how you can afford a Bentley in Australia, but not in the US.

I think our friend here will qualify soon, with our help, for a literary award in critical thinking.

Off to dinner. PM me any new tangents so as not to go on 50 pages of the same babble.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Why run and cry when you have 30+ pages in this very thread of self-delusional material for all to see?

Why because I have not sat here and written a thesis to thoroughly explain my views. Isn't going to happen. Certainly not from me..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Perhaps you are suggesting that you can't get a job with the same renumeration as you had in Australia, but then that would mean somehow that the US doesn't recognise your qualifications - or rather surprisingly that the US doesn't pay it's educated workers particularly well?

Synopsis:

Black people (or maybe just Wright) prior to the 60s should have taken discount ships back to Africa, or, alternatively, waited until now to buy a ticket to London.

Finally someone gets it..

Yes and its called a discussion forum. Hence you shouldn't really be surprised when someone questions your absolute statements about the "black community" based largely on Jeremiah Wright and "some people" you did and didn't see on holiday. Its a thin case for your absolute statements of "fact".

Perhaps. But you sure seem to hate a lot of places in the US that you've actually been to ;)

California? New Jersey? DC?

Right....

Bentley was an metaphorical example. If you have been to Aus you would know it is not about the money there.

I am not going to get into the specifics but the thousands of UK citizens migrating there, permanently, each and every month seem to understand.

Genius.

Looks like I was right. If a person is living in a famine, they should just up and move to where the food is.

If I extend that rationale - I could perhaps find a justification for illegal immigration.

Can't get a job / decent wage in your own country? Go to where you can.

I assume you can see the problem with this...

The human race has proven to be resilient and ingenious when it comes to adapting under the grievous of conditions or treacherous situations. There is an undercurrent of logic within the chaos of Mr. Buchanan's distorted arguments and head-shaking analogies. The truth is that African-Americans in this country are embarking on a new chapter in history for themselves. African-Americans are now living in the first post oppression, post slavery, post segregation, and post everything that held them back era. Now the primary element holding them back is themselves. There is no intent to imply that African-American’s struggles do not come with an extra load of baggage caused by the past indiscretions of American history. Is there still a long, long, long way to go in the struggle for African Americans in forging a better tomorrow for themselves, the communities they live, and for the America society as a whole? You bet! That struggle is evident and amplified by the challenges African-Americans face in today’s society. The future is where America’s hopes should rest with the upcoming generations who will move far beyond the pain, loss, struggle, and sacrifice the clouds the growth and unity of people from all walks of life.

Cheers!!!

I am not surprised at all. But certain people jumping on every statement and using it to make a cheap witty shot gets annoying.

A lot of those places are run down.

A lot of those places are run down? Hmm, that's clarity for you - and also paints a very distorted picture of what, for example LA is like in its entirety. There are often parts of big cities that go through periods of decline - they also get turned around and go through periods of growth too. It's the nature of big cities. I am not suggesting that one should love living in a big city but one thing is sure, big cities have many positive things to offer. They provide cultural centres that house museums, art galleries and orchestras for example. Things that small communities struggle to and often can't provide.
