Pat Buchanan: Black Americans should be grateful we brought them over on slave ships!

Just because you keep saying something, and ever louder, doesn't make it true. People from the UK are quite aware of their past and very few take pride in the imperialist messes that were created. However, that's quite another issue and I don't think anyone is fooled by your not so neat deflection.

Ahh so white Americans should pay for the past but the English should not. So sorry is good enough for England but not for white people in America hey.

PH, as usual, you are full of big words, #### and double standards.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

The only points I care about is that there were white slaves in America. Clearly they are not talking about one or two..

So should the descendants of these people use servitude as an excuse to commit crimes, trash neighborhoods, gang bang etc to name a few. Should they claim they were not compensated. Oh wait, of course not. " No, No No" They are white.

Then STFU here in this thread since you're obviously in the wrong place.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I must have missed where we were all saying that slave descendants should receive cash compensation. Perhaps that's in your head BY, cause it sure as $hit isn't in mine.

BTW - How was the article you posted "discredited"?

Because it described black property owners "strutting" around?

Put it this way. That choice of phrase ain't something that David McCullough would write.

Maybe Wight ad his 'type' would like to swap places with this human being. I will personally pay for the exchange. Just tell me where to send the ticket.

If I had not predicted, a while, back that no matter what evidence, opinions, views, historical events etc etc someone shows you, some will simply try to discredit it and or play it down I would continue arguing with you guys.

Guys, the UK exploited the world. Anyone from that country should keep their mouth shut. Or maybe you or your spouse 'Agnes' would like to pay compensation for historical events such as torturing convicts in Australia.

Why would/should we do that?

Perhaps the descendants of villainous convicts living in Australia should pay the descendants of their victims for the ancestor's crimes?

No? I don't think so either.

He already stated that the land was lost by these victims and "too bad for them."

Besides, from the little reading I do have of Australian history, there have been far better protections afforded to them as an ethnicity and land entitlements legally than there have been accomodations made for the people in this country that have stood where they stand as a result of the fallout from the slave and post-slave era. Reconstruction included.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

But, as I said, it's another of your not so neat sleight of hand deflection attempts. It would be funny if the things you were saying were 'just another opinion'. However, they are clearly not, the things you are saying are repulsive and offensive. There is no justification for the idea that people of any race are inferior to those of another race which is essentially your argument.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

It looks like you pick and choose your historical events. Anything about someone black is approved while anything about white hardship is BS, right?

Take it easy, Champ, I'm just asking for clarification. I'm the USC, for the record.

You must know that Hoffman is a highly controversial figure, and of course people are going to point this out.

As a few people have noted, the topic at hand is modern discrimination largely based on physical appearance. I mentioned yesterday a few relatively recent examples (civil rights, busing riots, colored soda fountains and bathrooms in the South) of discrimination against black Americans, attempting to note that the effects of being an underclass--and visibly associated with this underclass--for so long can't be erased overnight. Sanctioned discrimination wasn't "officially" outlawed until a couple of generations ago. Your assertions that a current culture of victimization is to blame is at least more relevant to the argument (although many of us disagree with this simplistic assessment made from the outside) than this horse$hit about white slavery hundreds of years ago.

No, what I am picking and choosing is to stay on topic in this thread. I mean... the title of the thread is

Pat Buchanan: Black Americans should be grateful we brought them over on slave ships!

Not:

Boo-Yah's inability to stay on one idea.
