the only thing is, that white preachers-freaks-whatever, get to say whatever on tv or on the press, and they 'have the right' because 'the other folks are doing it'... look what happened to Obama's preacher, they're killin him because omg he said so many mean things..

but, what has ever happened to David Duke? to Buchanan? to the guys that said that 9/11 was caused by lesbians, gays, satanists? to the westboro baptist church? oh, it's their freedom of speech to say it.. but if it's a minority, it's terrible because they are trying to abuse the now-minority white race...

Don't be ignorant, why play the race card ? Trying to gain sympathy from the great White guilt trip ??

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senator Barack Obama
Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

I read this same article on Human Events several days ago. While I can see where the entire article would most likely irritate your typical liberal (Black or White), there is nothing there that is what I would consider "over the top". It's certainly not on par with the stuff that Rev. Jeremiah Wright said and which prompted Buchanan's reponse.

I have read several books and articles by Buchanan and find most of his material well researched and well written on a wide range of topics. While Buchanan is a conservative, he certainly is no neo-con Iraq supporter or globalist free trader at any cost or open borders zealot like many other conservatives. He often is highly critical of Bush and many prominent Republicans along with their policies. Buchanan is definitely his own man. I have also read statements from Buchanan stating that slavery and segregation was wrong, but he definitely doesn't cut the Black community any slack nor does he make excuses for them. His sin is being a White man and stating it. Bill Cosby could say the same thing and the silence from the White liberals at VJ would be deafening.

I haven't seen anything in Buchanans article that sez: "Black Americans should be grateful we brought them over on slave ships." That is just more race baiting and bomb throwing from VJ Troll (aka: Gupt, Agent Smith, Arjit, etc.). Don't believe me? Read the entire article instead of just reacting to the Troll's title of the thread.

Personally I find guys like Teddy Kennedy and Howard Dean far more annoying, irritating, and out in the wacko's ozone. I'm sure the people in this thread that blast Buchanan probably think both of those guys walk on water and worship the ground they walk on. Go figure!

BTW...I'm an independent and have no party affiliation. I just call 'em like I see 'em.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

Thing is, Buchanan's wrong on all of the conclusions he draws from his points. He's not bravely stating tough truths. He's spouting mostly the same old garbage. (The same goes for Cosby. The problem of urban poverty isn't due to different clothing trends, people.)

while that may be true, no matter where one lives in the usa they still have the same opportunity to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. it worked for me - it might work for others too.

And many young black men and women do, charles. Recruitment has been largely from poor areas: urban blacks and Hispanics, rural whites. Still not sure that's a solution; we won't fix our schools, so we'll have a military largely made up of poor people with no other options, and politicians who never needed to serve. Sounds like a bad idea, long-term, to me.

Please don't go there. Most people in the military are there because they want to serve. I didn't go because I was poor and didn't have any other options. My counterpart at work just left a $30/hour job to rejoin the army because he wanted to serve. (he had already done one enlistment) People sacrifice their time and sometimes their lives because they feel they have a debt to their country and join for that reason. Don't lessen their service by making statements like that.

Agreed - none of these guys are making any profound statements here, simply preaching to the choir. They don't deserve even 1/4 of the attention they get.

True enough. The only one that stands to actually impact anyone positively, once they get past the ra-raw of the public outcry and uncomfortable racist sentiments that insidiously plague many subconsciousness' (sp?) is Cosby, and that because he's listened to by a wide audience that *may* impact several communities... and may not.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
