Pat Buchanan: Black Americans should be grateful we brought them over on slave ships!

Compensation payments, housing and help with loans to start business etc. would have been great only, if it took place as soon as segregation and slavery were over. This has been proven in history .

And taxes my friend are part of the american life, get used to your tax dollars being spent on things that you do not agree with.

but to whom? Anyone born post 70's should certainly not be compensated let alone anyone born after the 80's. Now if it comes from taxes, I would think every single person would have to contribute.

If freakin compensation is needed to move on, then so be it.

Ps The State and local governments should be promoting housing support, business loans etc as it is.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Who is making serious demands for compensation payments? Oh I forgot, no one.

I understand you are from CA. Listening to others is not your forte..

And a big reason why many blacks are in the situation that they are in is because when segregation ended they did not receive any type of handouts. But jews and Native Indians did receive handouts financially and economically to jump start the oppresion that they were in. You will never see a homeless native american because they are fully taken care of by the government (loans, housing, education) you name it they get it.

Yes, another wild tangent incoming.

By the way, I am not from California. I have lived only 2 years and 7 months of my total years on the planet here. But still, nice generalization.

You must not have heard of Californiaitis ;)

Did you catch it when you lived here? Got any herbal remedies to suggest?

Former Chicago alderman presses for slave reparations

GARY -- Former Chicago Alderman Dorothy Jean Wright Tillman told an audience at the Wildermuth branch of the Gary Public Library that she has been involved in civil rights since she was 9 years old in Montgomery, Ala.

...

Wearing one of her trademark, broad-band hats, this one black and silver, Tillman on Saturday spoke on the need for reparations for all blacks.

"America would not be America if not for the labor of slaves," she said.

Tillman said Gary would benefit from reparations and community efforts.

Oh come on Troll - all your googling skills and the best you come up with is an old lady at the Gary public library?

Yup. I was making your point.

A little more respect for Aldreman Tillman. The woman was a part of the Civil Rights movement in the 60s. She also fought unsuccessfully for a living wage from Big Box retailers in Chicago.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Ahh so it's too late now. I guess I will just have to put up with the crime and the ghettos. I don't care if every single person in VJ disagrees with me but I will never allow someone to use history or their situation to justify crime and play the victim game. Especially when it comes to hurting others.

You don't have to put up with the ghetto. I don't put up with it. I'm nowhere near it.

When looking at any of my posts, does it look like I write stuff trying to get the approval of others here.
