To my knowledge, no one is seriously considering reparations for slavery in spite of what BY seems to believe

So what does the black American community want then.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Yes, I mentioned compensation. 40 acres and a mule? That was promised at the abolition of slavery. Some folks believe in adjusting that for today's money. Do I think this is a good idea? NO, specially since even the receivers would food the bill.

I thought murder was murder. No need to make race an issue for causality of crime, unless you want to get something else out into the open. Never mind the fact that the police currently have their own set of racial profiles to follow based on... you guessed it... race. Perhaps living a little longer in this country will help you better understand that.

You don't see a pattern of blame here? Maybe the police are setting them up. I will think of that next time I am in downtown DC and see a drug deal. Or see a drive-by on the news.

Defintely... reading comprehension. But lets not go there.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Regardless of what? Its Americans that we're discussing here, or are they somehow not?

Yes, very illogical.

Now that I think of it I have hardly ever met any black Americans abroad. Maybe it is not in the culture to travel abroad, let alone migrate.

I have never heard a single person I have met in real life actually demand or expect reparations.

So what does the community, what does wright, want then? Clearly he wants something otherwise it would have been water under a bridge by now. This is what I am trying to understand, as a foreigner. Obviously moving on is a no no..

I have met several abroad.

I really don't think your experience of the world is indicative of How Things Really Are

I've never heard anyone actually demand reparations. It's not as if there's a bill before the Senate right now.

You really are ridiculous - Wright is not every black person in this country.

Besides, Wright actually lived through a time when black people got lynched for whilstling at a white woman and had to sit at the back of the bus. What's the excuse for your anger?

So you don't find it interesting that even though I come from a nation where 1 in 4 citizens is "BORN OVERSEAS", I have never ever come across an African American; and I lived in a city of 3.7 million..

So why does the black community make the same judgment about white people? even though only 1.5% of Americans owned slaves...

Let me guess your response, which black person makes that assumption.

Wow and this has to do with the topic?

But it does actualy! Silly me. Perhaps because it costs money to travel and the reality of many is that survival is more important that being a tourist.

And yes, I've met plenty African Americans overseas.

Make what judgement?

Who is the "black community"? Real people you know in real life?

Wright is not the community. But perhaps you can go ask him instead of making a fuss about the man.
