Open a sealed police report?

Hi all,

This might sound like a stupid question, but I just received my police report from the British Metropolitan police in a normal envelope. Since I will need to photocopy it to send a copy to the Embassy with the rest of Packet 3, it seems pretty obvious to me that I can open it..... but can I?! I thought I'd better check on here before I did and regretted it!

Thanks

We didn't get our police report in a sealed envelope.

Same here, but generally things that are sealed need to remain that way until the appropriate party can break the seal to look at it. It seems like the embassy would need to get the sealed envelope, still sealed... (but I have no experience with this)

Thanks for the replies!

When I say sealed envelope, I mean the envelope used to mail the police report (which by default must be sealed!) - not a sealed envelope within the envelope used to mail it!

I don't think that should be a problem... I opened the perfectly sealed envelopes of both of my police certificates... I just needed to check if everything is accurate and in order. You know, I don't want to be at the interview to find out that there's an error with my police certs e.g. wrong name, wrong date of birth...etc etc.... :star:

Cheers!

Cool... Good to see someone who has experienced the police report in a sealed envelope.

P.S: To the British folks on the board - the letter says the report is based on the "Person Record" category only. I assume this is what I need and nothing else?

Looks like that is all I need:
