Last name for I-485

We have all of the info together now, but have one question. Would we use the last name of my wife that is on her passport and K-1 visa? Or since we are married and have the certificate use my last name? Right now we have hers down, I am sure there is some direction somewhere for this but I can not find and do not want to get a RFE. Thanks for the help.

Put the last name that your wife would like to use. If she wants to take on your last name, then put it on the I-485 because the green card will be made using whatever name you put on the form.

It is up you and your wife if she wants to change her last name to yours since you both are married, a lot of people have successfully change their name to their married name but one thing for sure you can't tell if you will be RFE'd or not .

if in the future she will use your last name ( on bank account and all other important buisiness)

, she should aply for AOS with the name she will use in the future ( your last name )

if she uses her maiden name the GC will arive with maiden name , and if she wants to change it later , you will have to pay a fee to have it changed from maiden name to marriage name

my advice is , use the name she will use in the future
