Hi Everyone.

I am married thru the Fiance Visa. We also brought my wifes 2 children to the us thru the same visa.

I am in the process of adoting them here in the US. Does anyone know what is the process for them after the adoption is completed? Do the automatically become US citizens? Also Does this make it easier for my wife to become a US citizen.

Thanks everyone for your help as allways.

Doug

Are the children already green card holders? I think they have to be legal permanent residents at the time the adoption goes through in order for them to attain automatic US citizenship through you.

If they are already LPRs (even if conditional), you can take the adoption decree and apply for US passports for the children. If you want the children to have a document from the USCIS proving their citizenship, then you can file the N-600. However the US passport should suffice.

Your wife, on the other hand, does not get US citizenship automatically. She has to apply on her own once she has met the eligibility requirements.
