As for the police clearance in Malaysia, it's called "Letter for Good Conduct", and the fee is RM20. You can either apply it in person at the Wisma Putra (bring along all the required documents, it can be done and you can collect it on the same day itself) or via mail (it takes about 14 days for the approved certification to mail to you). I am not sure if you are able to collect the certificate on the same day if you apply in person in Wisma Putra. I called them once asking about it and they said that they will send it to me and requested that I bring along a stamped return envelope. Hearing that and Wisma Putra is not totally near to me, I sent in my application and it took them 3 1/2 weeks for them to send me the certificate(though my application was a renewal application), all crumpled! So, you may want to check on that again.

By the way, that was in February/ March 2008.

If you appear in person, they are able to issue the certificate on the same day since March. But, check the website for the new rules introduced.
