activate? shouldnt it be stamped in the visa the expiration date? sorry.. confused too...

Look at your visa. Its should say on the face of it what is the expiration date...at least my wife's K-1 did. You must be in the USA by that date.

Upon approval of the K3 petition by the USCIS, the applicant may apply for a K3 visa stamp at the American consular office. A K3 visa applicant is an intending immigrant and, therefore, must meet documentary requirements similar to the requirements of an immigrant visa applicant. As soon as the processing of a case is completed and the applicant has all necessary documents, a consular officer will interview the foreign spouse. If found eligible, a visa will be issued, valid for multiple entry during a period of 24 months.

From most countries, the K3 visa is valid for two years. Check the expiration date on yours. You must enter the USA before the expiration date.

It might be. Which country is it? Did you check the expiration date on your visa. That's your answer.
