For anyone who is DCF in London it would appear there is a new certificate which you should get. More information is :

here

http://www.west-midlands.police.uk/data-protection/forms.asp

and here

http://www.acpo.police.uk/certificates.asp

does anyone know anything about this ? Good thing is it seems to be a 10 rather than 40 day turnaround. Bad thing is it costs 35GBP rather than 10GBP !

I am about a month of the I-130 being processed so I was going to apply for my police certificate but now I am unsure what to do....

I see this is an old post, but have a quick relevant question - can we get the police cert before the I-130 has been sent/approved? Or does it need to be dated after that? Thanks.

Police certificates expire in some countries, so be mindful of that. If there's no expiration on the one you get, you should ask the embassy what they consider to be expired. I've seen someone on VJ cite "6 months" before, but best to follow up yourself.
