FRANCE: Gardasil/HPV vaccin required???

Hello,

I would need some help from other French people who have already had their interview at the embassy in Paris for K1 visa.

I just read and learned that the Gardasil vaccination would be maybe needed before the interview for K1. Apparently, there are 3 shots for this vaccins and so it takes about 6 months to complete it. I had even never heard of the HPV before. And apparently, only women from 11 to 27 years old would have to take it, which includes me in the group..

Does anyone has to do these shots before the interview???

In the official Travel State website, they are speaking about vaccinations that will need to be completed for at least AOS, but that are not mandatory for the K1 visa interview, and that Gardasil isn't even in the list...

However, in Canada, this vaccination could be required for the interview. If not, the visa cannot be granted.

So please, those who just had their interview in Paris: Did you have to take these shots before the interview or not???

Thanks for your help!!!!!!!

This new thing is driving me nuts

Bye,

Faustine

It all depends if it is a requirement for the French government to have the vaccine.

If it is, then yes you will have to have it.

Hopefully, someone will come with more experience on the subject. :)

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

I'm not from France but to me that sounds crazy. Gardasil is a vacination for cervical cancer. It's still a very new vacine and I highly doubt they'd require you to be vacinated for cancer. Before my interview in Denmark I had to be vacinated only for deceases that I could pass on....like the deseases you get as a child, hepatitis etc. Definitely not cancer. Anyway, the embassy will send you a list of vacination you'll need once you get your interview date. (I promise you it will all be ones you can get in one day)

I got my interview last week and Gardasil was never a requirement for the medical...

Especially when you know that they only perform it on young/teenage girls

I think it stops at 23-24...

They also perform it on girls who are still virgins or who've had only protected intercourse

So it doesn't really apply to most of the girls here who are about to get married...

I'm 25 BTW

You can get HPV even with protected sex. There are also over a hundred different strains, so even if you have it (which, chances are, you do), there are still strains which you might not have that the vaccine will protect against.

They do it up to the late 20s, regardless of how much sex you've had.

Anyway, I see no earthly reason why they would require it except for extortion purposes. It's an expensive vaccine.

I was wondering the same thing, Faustine, thank you everybody for your answers.

I'd like to add one thing: I remember reading on the UK forum that it is required for AOS (then it's strange that it is not on the list Anna C. provided), and they said that only the first shot is required.

It might or might not be required, but in case it would be, that won't be an additional 6 months delay.

07/31/08 Entry in USA with K1 visa

08/27/08 Married

05/15/09 Conditional green card received

05/10/11 Permanent green card received

07/28/12 Started naturalization process

08/31/12 Biometrics done

That's silly. One shot couldn't do anything.

I guess they only need to see that you have started the treatment and they expect you to finish after.

I've had the first shot of Gardasil and I'm just repeating what my doctor told me. I know that the age requirements depend on the French policy regarding this vaccination.

All French girls can relax, it's not needed...
