1. ds230 (duh lol)

2. bar code sheet

3. will make a cover letter with info on what is in the packet

4. will write a letter as I need to explan some things on the ds230 form itself

5. passport photo of me

6. passport photo of him

7. certified copy of his birth certificate

8. his original divorce certificate

9. NVC confirmed that Jerusalem consulate will get his police cert from Israeli police so no need to send it to NVC

Yes photocopies should be certified copies.

As for the police certificate, NVC told me that the process for jerusalem consulate has not changed. Perhaps the reason being is that the palis have to get the police cert from the Israelis and I doubt the Israelis would give it to the palis directly. They hand it over to the consulate when it is requested.

Yes ds230 is for the person overseas, not the petitioner. So yes, the passport copies must be from the person overseas.

Yes photocopies should be certified copies.

Would you mind to post the official source for this info?

I've a certified copy of the birth certificate, and I plan to just photocopy without certify it for my DS-230 package. If indeed the photocopy also needs to be notorized, I'll just go ahead and send NVC two certified copies, instead of a certified copy of an already certified copy of a birth certificate.

This is all I see at state.gov site: "In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents."

What I sent to NVC was originals, certified translations and copies. You dont have to certified copies, unless you are keeping originals, otherwise no.

i'm preparing my DS230 docs and agree that the photocopies do not have to be certified. my understanding is that you can choose to submit either the original document or a copy of the original which has been certified by the apropriate issuing authority. you then also include a photocopy of the document you have chosen to submit and this photocopy does not need to be certified. of course i have yet to submit my documents so cannot verify if this is correct but this is how i am preparing my docs.

hey dani i see that you are almost finished at nvc. i hope you get the approval soon!! i was watching your timeline closely but we are kinda out of synch with you now - we haven't even paid our AOS fee bill cos the bill was returned to the nvc when my husband was out of the country in feb!

hey guys,

i have question about certified copies to NVC as part of DS 230. i understood from reading here that if you are sending original documents then the photocopies you attach with those documents don't need to be certified. but what is everyone doing for the copy of the passport. since I will not be sending the original passport of my wife to NVC, does the photocopy of the biographical page of the passport need to be certified by the passport issuing authority in my wife's home country or is it acceptable to get it notarized by a US notary public b4 sending to NVC. any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks,
