I assume you visited if not ask for a familiarization trip to see what you are getting into... since it is just a few miles up of the gulf coast I imagine it is fairly warm climate.

YMMV

If it's in southern Alabama, I have never been to that area. But I like Northern Alabama(Birmingham area, Gadsden, etc) and we are going to move there in the near future. (just know sure how near :()

Also wanted to add...I used to think "Alabama huh???" in the past too. Until I started visiting. Northern Alabama is beautiful. It looks a lot like Tennessee, the mountains are just a lot smaller.

That's funny I just talked to a friend of mine who moved from Denver to Huntsville, AL and said she really likes it. Then she showed me pictures of the beach house she's renting in May that's right on the Gulf and it is out of this might gorgeous!

I've never been to AL, but I heard it is nice, weather is good. Make sure, you will research about the cost of living and other things that are important to you. Sometimes, a company can offer you to come to the area for few days with your spouse so that you can take a look at the area before accepting the job offer.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

I know a little about the area because my deceased wife was born and raised there. Foley is about 10 or 15 miles north of Gulf Shores, which is expensive because of the beachfront property. Property in Foley is rising too and it there appears to be some commercial development ongoing because everytime I go back there the town is bigger and there are new buildings. The weather is warm and humid in the summer and fair in the winter. The people are friendly. There is a fair amount of traffic in the summer with all the tourists and beach-goers. A plus to the area is you are near Pensacola, FL and Mobile, AL. I know Pensacola has excellent hospitals, and Mobile is pretty good too. If I were to move there I would probably live in Robertsdale or Summerdale, which are about 10 or so miles north on Hwy 59. The property prices are lower there and the towns aren't growing as fast. They are more rural too. One of the best things about Alabama is the low taxes. I see you are from Texas so you have no state income taxes, but high property taxes. Alabama has low income taxes and low property taxes. I would have no problems relocating to the area. Hope this helps in your decision.

We drive through Foley every year on our way to Gulf Shores. I've never really stopped there, but it seems nice. It's quite close to the beach and to Mobile, which is a beautiful city. The weather is nice.

Gulf Shores is called the Redneck Riviera, but that doesn't mean that the people are intolerant, just that the area is a hot spot for tourists, but most of them fairly local. I think you'll find the people very friendly and the lifestyle very comfortable.

Good luck!

Huntsville is where I'm from and I love it :) Just like any state, some cities are beautiful and wonderful (Huntsville is pretty different from the rest of Alabama) and others are tiny and full of odd people. I've never personally been to Foley but you probably should go around and check it out. Lived in Alabama all my life and I love it, it's beautiful!

And yes, that far south it will be a warm climate. The weather is actually very nice here although it can get pretty hot and humid in the summer but I'm from north AL (and not near a large body of water) so the humidity will be different and I assume somewhat lower here compared to by the ocean. The people are wonderful and the greenery is just incredible!

All I know of Foley, AL is this restaurant:

When I lived in Georgia, my friends and I would usually make an annual trip to Gulf Shores. On the way back home, we would stop in Foley to eat at Lambert's. MMMMMMM!!!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I certainly hope that is a joke. Of course people like Alabama.....why else would people live here? I'm sure there are people who enjoy living in every single state.
