Accelarated Process

My fiance is Chinese, my k-1 visa submitted Feb 8, 2008. I have to wait for long time that I don't have a problem with that. I'm worried that situation in China get worse as a result of political unrest. I was wondering can I request for Acclerated Process. Would she be qualified?

I dont know much about it and i have not heard of anyone that has been able to get permission for it........but my gut instinct says no that wont qualify because so many of our s/o come for areas with political unrest as well as terrorist attacks and it does not allow for them to be able to get accelerated process i think it has to be like a life or death medical situation......but again im not that knowledgeable about it but im sure someone will know the answer

For K-1 you can only receive an expedite for specific circumstances, such as a military petitioner with deployment orders. There are other criteria, but what you have described would not be an elegible reason for an expedite. Unfortunately you're going to have to wait with everyone else.

Unless your fiance is from Cuba, I concur with Mox, probably not gonna happen. You could always try, what do you have to lose.

Well, honestly I wouldn't encourage anyone to file an expedite if they stand no realistic chance of getting one. It wastes USCIS's time, when they could be doing better things like adjudicating expedites that have a reasonable chance.

Unless I missed the news report about the Olympics being canceled then I don't think they would really consider China as being a political unrest hotspot
