My AOS receipt number has never been in the system so I am never able to access it online. I submitting my I-485 in July and apart from the NOA I've received nothing from them...

SO, I called the 800 number and they had to "escalate my call". The woman I spoke with told me that my application was forwarded to the service centre and that I would be given an interview notice shortly.

I never submitted a medical with my I-485 but assumed I would get an RFE when they needed it.. I never got one.

Is it possible to be going to the interview stage if I've not done a medical yet?

with USCIS you never will know what is right and what is not.... for example people on 800- one person gives you one advice another one gives you absolutely opposite advice.. as well as one people have one experience with USCIS and another people absolutely opposite... it is like enigma answer you will never find for :) anyway it is government agency and they are always unuderstandable like in every country... so I don't know what to answer :( I am sorry :(

If you get to the interview and have not submitted any medical info either brfore or at the interview you will be given a RFE at the interview and your approval will not be given on the day... I would have all the medical info (sealed envelope containing the full medical report done by a Civil Surgeon) on hand to give the interviewing officer on the day of your interview...

As said before the 1800 is know as the misinfo line because they are always giving out wrong info... you would be much better making an infopass appointment at your local office and talk to a USCIS officer...
