I'm so sorry to hear this distressing news! And having to cut out (or cut down on) beer sounds like the worst part! But imagine how fit you'll be at the end of it!

Perhaps you can treat yourself to Cool Whip instead. Or another, less sweet substitute. (??)

I wish you a quick recovery!

No alcohol for nine months? That's like being pregnant with none of the benefits! That sucks. Anyway, have a fun weekend and good luck with the treatment.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

TB is a strange disease...

My ex husband, a Tibetan refugee, developed TB here in the US. I'm not sure if he was exposed back in Dharamsala where we lived or here. But 5 years after being in the US he was put into the hospital for it. It showed up in one of his lymph nodes, but his lungs were clear.

Strangely, living in Dharamsala (where TB is rampant) and with my husband all that time, my skin test result was negative for TB exposure.

My uncles also had TB when they were children.

You are in one of the best countries for TB treatment. I believe that if you don't have insurance the government will pick up the tab for the treatment (since it is a communicable disease).

And lastly...you will be ok. The treatment is not that hard. Yes, prolonged, but my husband had very little side effects from the medicine. Now he is totally healthy. Same with my uncles. And you will be too.

I hope you feel a little better now.

Tina

I'm envious of your life SteveLaura. I really applaud your courage to help mankind in the humanitarian ways you've mentioned. I lived in India for 1.5 years and I know that there is a lot of work that a good soul like you can do to help people there. The world is fortunate to have people such as you...

For now, take care of yourself. You'll be helping others again before you know it ;-)

God's Peace and blessing to you!

Steve, I admire you for the line of work you have chosen. It's unfortunate that you got infected but it's good that it's the latent version. I hope that your treatment will go well and you won't have the bad side-effects. I am not a big beer drinker, but in your honor I will drink a bottle every Friday and Saturday for you. (Hopefully brother Dean will take care of the rest of the days :D ).

Sorry to hear about this. I'll pray that the treatment goes smoothly and it won't be something to worry about too much. I hope you won't experience those side effects. Thanks for your good work in your community.

BTW if you can't have any alcohol, you can hang with us as we don't drink it anyway. Is coffee ok?(if you like it). :P

Thanks Stina - how's things?

I'm not much of a coffee drinker either. Nor, despite my heritage, tea. I feel that beer fills all my needs, despite what my counsellor says...

Things are good here!
