Thank you so much tenderheart197900 (F)

yes its a very special day for muslims. blessed day insha Allah.

What do they say about Prophet Muhammad? ( part of the article)

George Bernard Shaw said about him:

"He must be called the Savior of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it much needed peace and happiness." [The Genuine Islam, Singapore, Vol. 1, No. 8, 1936]

Michael H. Hart in his book on ratings of people who contributed towards the benefit and upliftment of mankind writes:

"My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels." (The 100: A ranking of the most influential persons in history" New York, 1978, p. 33)

THE PROPHET AS A HERO:

K. S. Ramakrishna Rao in his book 'Mohammed: The Prophet of Islam' writes:

"The personality of Muhammad is most difficult to get the whole truth of it. Only a glimpse of him I can catch. What dramatic succession of picturesque scenes? There is Muhammad the Prophet; there is Muhammad the General; Muhammad the King; Muhammad the Warrior; Muhammad the Businessman; Muhammad the Preacher; Muhammad the Philosopher; Muhammad the Statesman; Muhammad the Orator; Muhammad the Reformer; Muhammad the Refuge of Orphans; Muhammad the Protector of Slaves; Muhammad the Emancipator of Women; Muhammad the Judge; Muhammad the Saint... In all these magnificent roles and in all these departments of human activities he is equally a hero."

Tala'a al-Badru 'Alayna
(The Full Moon Has Risen Over Us)

Tala`a al-Badru `Alayna
O Prophet, Peace be upon you.
O Messenger, Peace be upon you.
O Beloved, Peace be upon you.
The Blessings of Allah be upon you.

The full moon has risen over us
From the mountains of al-Wada`.
We shall ever give thanks for it
As long as there will be callers to Allah.

You are a sun, you are a full moon,
You are light upon light,
You are the quintessence of existence,
You are the lamp in every b reast

The full moon has risen over us
Eclipsing all other moons.
Such as your beauty we have never seen
No, never, O face of delight!

O My beloved, O Muhammad,
O bridegroom of the East and the West,
The one Allah vindicated and exalted,
O Imam of the Two Directions!

O Prophet, Peace be upon you.
O Messenger, Peace be upon you.
O Beloved, Peace be upon you.
The Blessings of Allah be upon you.

Happy Prophet's Birthday! It is good to remember him. But Prophet (pbuh) himself never celebrated his birthday nor did his noble companions after his death. So we should not make a big feast or anything like that, but we can remember his life, examples in his birthday.

This is what Alphonse de Lamartine, a French Poet said about the prophet (pbuh).

This is Mohammad | writings from Alphonse de Lamartine

“Never has a man proposed for himself, voluntarily or involuntarily, a goal more sublime, since this goal was beyond measure: undermine the superstitions placed between the creature and the Creator, give back God to man and man to God, reinstate the rational and saintly idea of divinity in the midst of this prevailing chaos of material and disfigured gods of idolatry.

Never has a man accomplished in such a short time such an immense and long lasting revolution in the world, since less that two centuries after his predication, Islam, preaching and armed, ruled over three Arabias, and conquered to God’s unity Persia, the Khorasam, Transoxania, Western India, Syria, Egypt, Ethiopia, and all the known continent of Southern Africa, many islands of the Mediterranean, Spain and part of Gaulle.

If the grandeur of the aim, the smallness of the means, the immensity of the result are the three measures of a man’s genius, who would dare humanly compare a great man of modern history with Mohammad?

The most famous have only moved weapons, laws, empires; they founded, when they founded anything, only material powers, often crumbling before them. This one not only moved armies, legislations, empires, peoples, dynasties, millions of men over a third of the inhabited globe; but he also moved ideas, beliefs, souls. He founded upon a book, of which each letter has become a law, a spiritual nationality embracing people of all languages and races; and made an indelible imprint upon this Muslim nation, for the hatred of false gods and the passion for the God, One and Immaterial.

Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, warrior conqueror of ideas, restorer of a rational dogma for a cult without imagery, founder of twenty earthly empires and of a spiritual empire, this is Mohammad.

Of all the scales by which one measures human grandeur, which man has been greater…”

- Extract from Alphonse de Lamartine's Histoire de la Turquie, (1854). translation from French.

:: Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869) was a French poet and writer revered by many. He is considered one of the first “Romantic” poets, said to be an inspiration to many after him.

Yes simple male , you are true. The Prophet ( pbuh) never celebrated his birthday , the way we should celebrate his birthday is that we follow his path and Sunna .. Peace be upon him.

BIRTH OF THE PROPHET:

Historian, John William Draper in his well known work, "A History of the Intellectual Development of Europe", observes:

"Four years after the death of Justinian, 569 A.D., was born at Makkah, in Arabia, the man who, of all men, has exercised the greatest influence upon the human race,"

The well known British historian, Sir William Muir, in his "Life of Mohammed" adds:

"Our authorities, all agree in ascribing to the youth of Mohammad a modesty of deportment and purity of manners rare among the people of Makkah... The fair character and honorable bearing of the unobtrusive youth won the approbation of his fellow-citizens; and he received the title, by common consent, of Al-Ameen, the Trustworthy."

YOUTH OF THE PROPHET:

James Michener in his well known work, "Islam, The Misunderstood Religion" writes:

"Orphaned at birth, he was always particularly solicitous of the poor and the needy, the widow and the orphan, the slave and the downtrodden. At twenty he was already a successful business man, and soon became director of camel caravans for a wealthy widow. When he reached twenty-five his employer, recognizing his merit, proposed marriage. Even though she was fifteen years the older, he married her, and as long as she lived remained a devoted husband."

Thanks for recognizing this special day. I plan to recognize this day by talking to my son about what Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) did and we will probably watch "the message" tonight to bring ourselves back to how Islam started and remind him of what it's all about.

That is true. Visa Consular Officers are skeptical when a wife is older than a husband. They have a reason as very few men in Islamic world (and/or Middle East Countries) marry women older than their ages. The consular officers are well aware of the local cultures. I think, that is why, they are skeptical. But this is another topic.

So is this a holiday or not? I've been told that it is celebrated in Morocco, which I find interesting since they don't really celebrate birthdays.

It is a Holiday in some Muslim countries.
