Visiting whilst waiting for Visa

My boyfriend and I are soon going to apply for a K-1 visa, can I visit him in the states whilst waiting for the visa to be processed or do I have to stay in the UK

Hi, Jen

Yes you can visit. This process usually takes awhile to complete depending on what Service center you go through (4-6months). They advise that you don’t visit once the I-129F is submitted, but others have done it. So visit and double check your paper work and submit it while you're here.

You can try. You need to make sure you have sufficient evidence that you will return to the UK-letter from your job, tenancy agreement or mortgage, student class schedule-that sort of thing.

Ditto Provided you can prove sufficient ties to the UK it shouldn't be a problem but it is up to the discretion of the POE officer

My fiance will be visiting from the UK this week. He's bringing pay stubs, a copy of the deed to his house, and the chit from the parking garage at the airport where his car is being stored for the visit. I'm slightly nervous, but I think he'll be okay.

I was nervous as well as we were at NOA2 / packet 3 stage but it was fine

I did take evidence of ties to the UK; copy of mortgage, return flight info (as I had E-ticket I had no actual ticket), and details of daughter's flight back from holiday in spain (which i had to be there to meet!)

yes, u can. i came to visit my fiance 2 weeks ago to the states, and have to go back home tomorrow..

i took all the needed evidence, but had not to show anything. i checked very well what the immigration officer has done with my passport, and i haven seen him scanning it or checking anything with the pc. i beleive they dont know that u have aplyed for a k1 visa. he never mentioned anything or questioned me. i only anwered him what he asked me, what i do, where i go, i sayed to see family friends, vaccation. thats all. i would do it again. good luck!
