Who is he defying? All those that know that the war was wrong to enter into and all those that know how pizzpoor he executed it. All those that care that tens of thousands of lives were lost and hundreds of thousands destroyed for no reason other than his idiocy and incompetence.

Mr. big Dog - I support your candidacy for office. Well said.

More biased "opinion" posed as "news".......

Five years in Iraq: a deep disquiet in the US

Its in step with the majority of public opinion.

I guess that makes the polled majority opinions nasty, dirty liberals.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I don't actually think the second story is particularly biased - certainly not in comparison to the first. The language is less loaded.

Very true. Its unfortunately its taken (of the ones we care) nearly 4,000 US soldiers killed and anywhere from 80,000 to 200,000 innocent Iraquis killed for most of those conservatives to discover they got duped. Or was it the economy? Oh well... people care about what they care about.

Well... defiance is relative to what the man defies. In this case, you can't load language that describes an overwhelming majority opinion if the defiant individual is supposed to obey his constituency by numbers. In a democracy, at least...

In that first article it definitely is biased - the journo doesn't offer WH or Rep perspectives to back up the Presidents statements. It would have been possible to write the same article in a neutral way without the loaded words and with a few more specifics.

Well guys you're looking at two specific articles but not giving any regard to the trend that's exisited now for a few years, particularly regarding GWB and the Iraq war.

The reason the polls are so damn skewed are that the bias in the media has swayed public opinion. Liberals in the media have done so before. Vietnam anyone?

When was the last time you heard a news story on MSNBC touting the progress in Iraq? They mostly report negative things about the war, and particularly anything GWB has to do/say.

The bias is real, and it's prevalent.

We're looking at specific articles that you provided for comment.

I think its a bit more complicated than simply media bias skewing public opinion en-masse to undermine the government. I'm sure it has an effect, but given that public opinion* was divided about this thing from the get-go - I think there may be more to it. Public opinion informs the media and vice versa - the relationship isn't one-way.

* And we're not just talking US public opinion - but public opinion in many countries.

To answer your question, a couple of times. MSNBC, CNN, Fox, HN, BBC, etc.

What consideration can be given to the opinion of military perspectives. Of course there is going to progress as long as you have enough troops to beat any insurgents by attrition. Progress can be defined in military terms while it can also be defined by what it is not on this side of the world- and in the latter its what defines the war for most Americans: as something that was never really justified given the reasons. No media outlet will forgo its subscribers in order to please either lies or the wishes of a very outdated minority in power.

So is yours. Afterall, how many anti-war people would work at a defence contractor?
