Who is he defying? All those that know that the war was wrong to enter into and all those that know how pizzpoor he executed it. All those that care that tens of thousands of lives were lost and hundreds of thousands destroyed for no reason other than his idiocy and incompetence.

Pretty naive take on a war waged on your ability to continue, and maintain your standard of living. Next time you fill'r up, thank GWB you're not in a long line hoping you've enough gas to get to work. Been there and done that!

Just as the Nazi's sought to wrestle Iraq away from the British in WWii, this president couldn't allow a petty dictator, sitting on the worlds second largest oil reserve, to develop, then disseminate WMD's, and allow them to fall into the hands of some really bad people.

Be thankful.

Where's the beef?

So... Bushy is defiant of... public opinion in his own country? Wow... somehow nobody should be surprised. Maybe the polls are all just made up, too.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Yes its biased and not very well written. The guy also doesn't clarify some of his statements leaving it with "the majority if people" and "polls show".

As to whether I agree with what the guy is saying... no need to explain what I think.

You're in the minority as most people will never see the text of the article but rather just the headline. That's my point!

But perhaps not in the minority in terms of the opinion the guy is expressing.

Bush's job approval rating is still pretty low, and on his handling of the economy its lower still - 25%. His lowest, I believe.

So you are now admitting that Bush lied this nation into this illegal act of aggression. Very good.

Nope, he still did what was best given the intel he had at the time. Remember the context of the time? The reality is that if we allow the Iraqi's to fall to AQ now it can potentially throw the world into chaos over oil production.

Iraq today, Saudi tomorrow.......

Americans like to ignore the fact that the west needs that oil.

If AQ gains a foothold in a country with unlimited oil revenues we're in really big trouble.

The arguments between now and then have changed of course.

"Then" it was badly thought out, duplicitous, poorly planned and not very well implemented.

"Now", given how the conflict has evolved (not unpredictably) our options are limited. I don't see them including a withdrawal anytime soon.

The "now" doesn't change the "then". Neither does it validate it.

I have to disagree a bit there - oil prices are extremely high right now and there's no sign of them coming down. It's forcing people to look away from the gas pump and toward alternatives (not a bad thing actually). I don't thank GW when I'm at the pump.

Bush's approval ratings are VERY low... I think that's what the article was getting at. I've not met/ talked to anyone from the small minority who supports Bush... before today I guess.

Your argument is rather inconsistent and quite ignorant to boot. Either we went in to protect the oil we need as you initially stated or we went in because there were supposedly WMD and AQ connections to Iraq (the latter being the most blatant of lies of Bush to get the nation into this illegal war). Which is it? Make up your mind and then make your argument from there.

And these folks have the audacity to question a 3 AM phone call as to a candidate's judgment. If a president that receives morning intelligence reports can't make an informed decision based on actual logical judgment, who can we trust? Oil is important because we allow it to be... and when that happens its not exactly our cars that benefit.

Still waiting for the beef.

First it was WMDs in the desert, and now its a terrorist group that Allahalmighty sure as heck didn't put in the country to drill for oil after we invaded.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.
