visa when visiting canada as a gc holder?

i am a german citizen holding a us green card. can anyone tell me if i need a tourist visa to enter canada?

my husband and i are planning a trip to niagara falls on the canadian side.

is it enough for me to present german passport, marriage license and green card to re-enter the us?

Hi Nina. You just need to present your greencard. No need for anything else.

From the CBP Website:

Foreign nationals that are lawful permanent residents of the U.S. must present a Permanent Resident Card ("Green Card", INS Form I-551), a Reentry Permit (if gone for more than 1 year), or a Returning Resident Visa (if gone for 2 years or more), and their passport to reenter the United States if traveling from outside the Western Hemisphere. If traveling to Canada or Mexico, the Permanent Resident Card is sufficient, although, carrying a passport as well could help facilitate your reentry. (LPRs that are out of the U.S. for more than 180 days are subject to new immigrant inspection procedures as per 8 USC 1101.)

As a German citizen you wouldn't even need a visa, so I don't see why you'd need one now

I am german citizen , was canadian permanent resident for 20 years before I moved here to the states ,

and yup I just got back from canada visiting my kids for the first time since I recieved the GC ,

it was cool all I had to show was my german passport and GC

( not like when I lived in canada and came to visit my babe in the states before the k1 process , I always had to aply for a I 94 waver wich was good for 90 days to visit the states )

so am happy NO MORE I 94W YEAHHHHHHHHHH :)

all you need is the passport and GC ,

( but bring a copy of your marriage cert incase they want to see it , they didnt with me but ya never know some guards are very picky so better save then sorry )
